DD routinely naps in her swing, but at 10 weeks I know that we need to start working on transitioning her to her crib for naps. She sleeps great in her crib at night but is snugly swaddled and usually has to be rocked to sleep still. Has anybody had any luck making this transition? What's your nap 'routine' look like? TIA!
Re: Suggestions for Nap Transition?
PLEASE respond to this post with tips as I am having the same issue with my 8 week old. He is great at night which I know is wonderful ! but with naps i only get maybe an hour tops which isnt that very often. He usually gives me cat naps in crib that are usually around 30mis. I go in numerous times put the paci back in his mouth sooth him from the crib. rub his head belly make shhing souds. He is not screaming but not sleeping either. WHat happens is after trying for awhile to get him back to sleep, it then goes into "overtired " and hungry for hte next feeding. He then becomes more hungry than tired and then I am def not getting him back to sleep.
I def get longer stretch naps in swing and obviously the best when we are out and about in the car seat and car. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!
DD tends to be a cat napper as well. We were only getting 30-40 minute naps for about a month straight for awhile. It was SUPER frustrating for me, but it has slowly gotten better.
What I'm currently doing is swaddling for every nap and putting her down in her rock and play to sleep. She typically stirs and wakes after about 30-40 minutes. If rocking and paci don't put her back to sleep (which they usually don't), I pick her up and put her straight in the swing to finish her nap. She will usually nap in the swing anywhere from another 40-90 minutes. It's not ideal, but in IMO it's better for her to get a decent nap even if it's partially in the swing, then to have little cat naps all day. About half of her naps are done this way and about half she will stay in her rock and play the entire time. If she naps atleast 50-60 minutes in the rock and play I consider that an acceptable nap and usually just get her up.
If you haven't tried swaddling for naps at all I would definitely try that. GL!
