I need direction for Asher's OT's gift!

She was here today and I casually asked leading questions.   I offered her coffee, she said "No thanks, I'm not a huge fan of coffee or tea"  So no dunks or starbucks cert.  Later on we were chatting about books, I told her I was reading "The Hunger Games"  and she said "I never read, I have no time"  So no Barnes and Noble Cert.  So I asked her what she does for fun and she says "I just spend time with my family"  I asked her if they ever go out to dinner and she said "No, we enjoy dinner at home"  Ugh so no restraunt cert.  I do not know what to give her!

  • I know her kids are older.  Her oldest son is an Eagle Scout, she is very proud of that.  But I don't know enough about scouts to get her a related gift.  Would it be very tacky to get her a "My son is an Eagle Scout" shirt?

  • Loading the player...
  • you could give her an amazon gift cert. they literally sell everything, so you wouldn't be restricting her choice with one. or if you'd rather do something more interesting, you could do an etsy gift cert.

I would not get that shirt - I don't think it's tacky, per se, just seems weird. If her kid is in scouts, they are probably into outdoorsy things. Maybe a nice picnic basket? We have one that has spots for (and came with) 4 plates, utensils, a cutting board, a knife, cups, etc. It can be carried as a backpack, too, so it's great for going on hikes.

Great call on the basket, we have one two and we LOVE it! I think you might be over-thinking it. I agree the coffee/tea is out. GC to a salon, enough for a manicure/pedicure, if she wants she could put it towards hair/massage/facial, who wouldn't like at least one of those options?

I would skip the T-shirt I think it is too personal and  a little weird.

Do you have a price range? I might be able to help you with more ideas if I know what your looking to spend.

  • Target or local grocery store gift card inside a card with a thoughtful note. Everyone shops at Target or the grocery store :)
  • How much do you want to spend?

You could do a pedicure gift cert, massage gift cert or just a target gift card.  EVERY one can use that--she can buy games for the family or something for herself.

  • Okay I think if you want to avoid the GC route, and aren't too sure if she would go for a spa certificate, I think you might consider sending her a Beautiful plant/flower.

I love love love Orchids, they are so easy to take care of and are Beautiful all year round, and they can last for weeks and weeks. She can save it and next year it will re-bloom if she waters it once and awhile. If you have a local place you could go that route if not I noticed on the Pottery Barn Site they have several types of plants available. Orchids, Christmas Cactus, Amaryllis. They come is really pretty planters/pots, and would be a nice gift to brighten the house.

I also think a really nice day planner would be a great gift. Maybe an Erin Condren.

Definitely a luxury item, the planners are not cheap, but are Beautiful, and I would really appreciate that if someone gave me one.

    Vera Bradley tote.

If I think of more ideas I will post them.

  • Since she says she's a homebody, get her a picture frame, maybe a Shutterfly gift card to order prints for said frame, a candle, a reed diffuser or coasters.  Or a combo of all of those.

  • I don't believe the whole "I perfer to eat a home" line. Everyone likes a night off of cooking, some people just don't like to pay for it. I think a restaurant GC would get used. No doubt about it.

  • I am a peds OT and I would love to receive slippers!  I have my shoes off most of the day to go into the sensory gym and slippers would be delightful!  A gift card to a craft store would be great since I am contract and purchase a lot of my own supplies to work with my kiddos.  Maybe some cool stickers or stamps that she could use with the kiddos she works with.  I have gotten bath stuff in the past which I don't care for because it usually is a scent that I don't like.  A candle is great also!
  • I was also going to say a craft store like Michael's so she can do a framing of her son's eagle scout badges and stuff.
