I bought this pack of 2 straw sippies the other day, I think they're Nuby and they're the first straw sippies I buy, so this may be a stupid question.... But how in the world do they work?! You fold back the top and then the straw pops up, but no matter how hard you suck, nothing comes up. Upon inspecting them, I saw that they're basically closed, and if you kind of squeeze it on the sides, it makes a tiny hole and you can sip up water... but how is LO supposed to manage that?! Is there some really obvious trick I'm missing? I can't return them now, so I'd really like them to work. Thanks!
Re: Straw sippie - maybe stupid question?
I haven't used that kind. We have the Playtex ones and you just squeeze or suck and the liquid goes up into the straw.
Maybe LO has to bite the straw or something? I don't know, that sounds crazy! Sorry I'm no help, but if you want a rec for a good straw sippy, the Playtex ones are awesome!
We use the playtex straw sippy as well. I believe the other person is correct and you have to bit the nuby straw for it to work. The playtex one is great because you can actually press the cup and it forces milk/water into the straw and teaches LO to suck from a straw. We also are a big fan of the take and toss straw sippy, we use those for water and the playtex straw cup for milk.
We use the nuby straw cups, and they do have to bite it to get it to open. But both my kids have used them since around 8-9mos and got the hang of it really quick. Have you tried it with your LO? I bet they figure it out pretty easy.
