Installed our car seats this weekend

We installed our car seats this weekend. (bases only, we'll keep the carrier in the house until we go to the hospital) That was the last major thing on our baby to-do list. We still need to get them inspected by the police department, I'm waiting for a call back about that.

I can't believe DS will be here next month! Have you guys installed your car seats yet? If not when do you plan to do it?

    It's a little surreal, isn't it?

    We haven't installed ours yet but plan to after my shower on January 7th. We only have the one base right now, but I'm thinking I'll get the other one then so it'll cut down on trips to the PD for a checkup!

    DH looked at it yesterday and said "Oh this is going to be easy" I did not love his carefree attitude so I am making BIL help him. The base can go in my car at any time but DH's truck needs a serious deep clean before it can go in there. DH is a farmer and he has all sorts of "work" in there. Think Pig Pen all grown up! DH does however want to start keeping all the hospital stuff ready to go since I am now off bed rest and plan to make up for 7 weeks of doing next to nothing!

    We did this weekend too and we were able to get them checked by our local Fire Dept.  Super easy and we are ready to go - well, in the car seat dept anyways. LOL!

    DH had a little trouble getting the straps tight enough on base #1. After working with it for a while he figured out adjusting the tilt really helped. He said installing base #2 in our other car was a breeze.

    DH and I will be bringing both cars to the police station to have them installed this coming Sunday.  His car can actually be done anytime but he needs my SUV with the seats all down for 2 days this week so it has to wait until Sunday.

    We need to clean the interior really well (dog hair!). We'll probably install the base over the long weekend we get for Christmas and then take it for inspection sometime the following week. Next weekend is all about the nursery.
