Baby Dropped??? Pain in Legs

I think my little man has dropped - I have horrible sciatic pain in my legs all the way down to my feet - I have been reading up on it and they said it is all in how the baby is laying - I really hopes he moves - I cannot deal with this pain for 7 more weeks.  Anyone else have this problem??

Re: Baby Dropped??? Pain in Legs

  • Oh my yes.  I've been dealing with pain in my hips and legs since Thanksgiving day.  One doctor told me it was because the baby was putting pressure on my sciatic nerve,  Another doctor told me it had nothing to do with the baby and was pelvic girdle pain because my pelvis was getting ready for labor and birth.

Both told me there's pretty much nothing I could do about it except Tylenol and heating pad/cold pads.  One nurse practitioner recommended acupuncture, so I gave it a shot, but it didn't do anything to help.  Things have gotten slightly more bearable since Thanksgiving weekend but I've been dealing with the pain everyday.

Sorry I don't have more hopeful feedback.  :(  This leg pain has been the worst part of pregnancy for me so far.  I'm having an ultrasound on Tuesday so I'm hoping to find out if the baby dropped or has changed positions.  After nearly 3 weeks of pain, I'm looking forward to labor starting!

  • I have been getting horrible cramps in my left leg over the past week. It feels like a charlie horse and starts right in the crease of my inner thigh and shoots up towards my knee. My friend who just had a baby 6 weeks ago said she had the same thing and it was from the baby dropping. I don't know though because my lo is still crushing my ribs so I don't feel like he's dropped any. I'm going to mention to my doctor on Thursday but I think it's another normal pregnancy symptom.

  • It's pretty early for baby to drop, but pain like this can be worse if LO is posterior -- spinningbabies.com is really helpful if you want some techniques to get LO to move into better position.
