I have this week off, and after being away for the weekend I really needed to catch up on sleep. Jack waking up at 6:30 wasn't gonna cut it. So I gave him his cup of milk, a few books and a some favorite toys and went back to bed. He wasn't exactly happy and cried for a few minutes, but then he settled down and I fell asleep. When I woke up at 8:30 he was asleep. I feel like an awful mommy today, but it just was not going to be a good day if I didn't get some extra sleep.

Re: Am I a bad mom?
nope. Bad Moms wouldn't care or question this.
You're good ;-)
Yes. This will be a defining moment in his life, and he will spend years in therapy discussing the time his mom gave him milk and toys, and how awful it was.
Toys! That poor poor boy.
I suspect the authorities will be there any minute to snatch him from your home.
Why would that make you a bad Mom? I'm honestly jealous I can't do that with Bennett and get him to sleep 2+ more hours...he'd never go for that idea!!!
And knowing you need to take care of yourself to take the best care of DS makes you a great Mom!
No way. A good mom knows her limits and knows when she needs some sleep to continue being a good mom. What would be better-- you being tired and cranky all day, or you getting a little extra sleep while Jack entertained himself and now being able to face the day with more energy and have more fun with your little guy?
p.s. I have a cold but I may have sort of pretended that I was sicker than I was yesterday so that my DH would let me sleep in while he watched the kids.
Thanks ladies, I don't know why I feel so badly about it, but when I woke up and he was sleeping I just felt so guilty that he fallen back to sleep out of boredom because I was being a lazy mommy.
I feel better now, and I am well rested and we are having a great morning so I need to get over it and except it was what I needed today.

If that makes you a bad mom, then I am a horrible mom.
I leave Caroline in her crib in the mornings after she wakes up. I continue to doze until she calls for me or starts crying. She can lay in there for over an hour talking/singing to her stuffed animals....and she is happy as a little clam. I keep sleeping and she is no worse for wear.
Park doesn't go for this plan most mornings, but on the mornings he does...it is GOLDEN ;-)
