Layla's PDA surgery was today.

she's doing ok right now. her vent settings are up, and her blood pressure is a bit low. they're going to do another gas at midnight and decide then if she needs to go back to the oscillator for a day or two. she's just having to work hard with the vent and they don't want her to have to use so much energy.

super stressful day, but i'm looking forward to getting past this hurdle. she wasn't going to be able to progress much with her breathing without it. it was affecting her lungs.

I'm sorry she had to have the surgery, but glad it went well. I hope her recovery is easy. DS had it rough for the first few days, but then steadily improved after his surgery.

I am glad her surgery went well. I am sorry she had to go through that and I know how stressful it is (my son had the surgery also), but hopefully this helps her in the long run!

I replied in the other thread but just in case... T&Ps to you. The NICU is a bumpy ride and post surgery days are always the worst. But she's a fighter and you're one strong momma!

I think I posted in the other thread. It is scary when they get worse before they get better but hopefully Layla will be like a lot of the other PDA ligation surgery babies on this board and will be making amazing progress in a few days.

My son had to be put back on the Oscillator for a day or two after his surgery. I was so crestfallen when I walked in and saw that machine back but it only lasted for about 48 hours tops.

Keeping you guys in my thoughts.

I am sorry she is struggling. My little girl struggled after her PDA surgery and was put on an ocsillator. It was a terribly stressful couple days but she got through and is doing great now. She will get through this and you will be amazed at how different she will be after.
