Success after IF

So overwhelmed (in a good way) this time of year...

Do you ever feel so overwhelmed with emotion that it feels like it is all too much?  Like your heart can't take it?  I am such a sappy mess this time of year anyway, but this year is the worst (or best, I guess).  I just feel so incredibly blessed.  All I've wanted for years if for little ones to share the magic of Christmas with.  Ava is really starting to "get" it this year, and it is even better than I thought it would be.  All of the girls are just so enamored with the decorations and lights.  Every new little thing we put up is the biggest deal ever.  And Ava is starting to understand sharing and giving to others, too, which just makes my heart full.  We already have some family traditions that Ava, at 3,  understands and thinks are important.  I feel like, "Yes.  THIS is it.  THIS is what makes it all worth it."

But, at the same time, I think that the sadness in the world is magnified this time of year, too, KWIM?  Every story on the news seems worse or more heartbreaking.  And thinking of my friends that are still going through IF or have experienced tragedy and loss is just overwhelmingly sad.

I think I just feel everything MORE this time of year.  Anyone else?

  • YES!!!  good explanation "feel everything MORE"...that's perfect.  I was sooo excited to wrap some of DS's presents last night because I know he is going to love them!!  He loves the lights, and he loved the horse drawn carriage ride at Christmas Fest this weekend...and he loved the windows at Macy's...and...ah...its even better than I imagined :)

  • SAME HERE!!!!  Claire is totally getting the Spirit and I'm LOVING teaching her about Christmas.  I'm a sappy mess, too.  Together, Claire and I picked some clothes of hers and toys to give to other little children.

  • Me, me, me! I wound up sitting through Mickey's Christmas Carol twice this weekend because DD wanted to watch but was scared at the same time (and therefore had to sit in my lap). Watching them get all excited watching it, remembering my family watching every year growing up.....yeah, tears. I'm a sap.
