Toybox wwyd?

We got little guy a toy box for Christmas, solid wood, stained etc. It's pretty heavy and we plan on keeping it in the living room because that's where he plays. It looks more like a storage bench and I love it.

DH started putting it together tonight and holy cow, it smells like stain. It is made from low emission wood/materials but I can still really smell it.

Do you think I should put it into the garage to off gas for a few weeks? I don't have a great sense of smell so I am concerned because I can smell it.

Thoughts?

  • That probably would help.  Maybe call where you got it from to see if this smell is normal and if they have any suggestions.

  • I would, it will probably be less stinky pretty quick once out of the packaging. It will also absorb your house smells pretty quick too I bet. If not I would call and ask them.

R's bedroom set was pretty stinky when we unwrapped it and it went away very quick. I think his nursery furniture was too, it was fine by the time he was born.
