Recommend your midwife: Update!

Thanks to everyone who responded! I am switching my care to Geraldine & Tracy at Fremont Midwifery and am very excited! I interviewed Geraldine and their student yesterday and it was absolutely amazing. I was instantly comfortable with her (very rare for me), and she seemed so calm yet assured while also being immensely respectful of the moms in her care. I really felt like discussing things with her that her attitude was the she advised and discussed options WITH her moms, rather than telling them what to do as the all-powerful authority figure (the latter being feeling I got from my current midwives and the other groups I interviewed). Obviously I'm hiring a midwife to be the expert, but I still want to be involved in my care, and I feel like that is much more a possibility here.

So thank you again to everyone who responded, I am so happy I interviewed them and am very hopeful this will be a better fit!

    Glad you found someone you liked! I saw your last post, so you were seeing the Eastside Midwife group at the PSBC? I was under their care last year and I have to say that I did not have a great birth experience. Not bad, but they had put way too much on their plate and didn't have the staff to handle the high amount of women who were due around my time. Heike, was on call and she was hardly there during my labor. I was expecting more. I got a student midwife who I had only met a couple times before and she didn't seem to offer any guidance. Anyway, it's a long story but I chose to be transferred to evergreen and I'm so glad I did. Another woman in my birth class group also had a horrible experience with the same team so if I were to get pregnant again I would not use their service or recommend them. I will try to find another midwife though.
