i live about 40 minutes from my hospital... (i've had been having BH & not feeling them per the NST's i have been having.)
2 weeks ago i was 1.5 cm dilated
this week the baby was so low she couldnt get to my cervix to see if it changed any since it was too painful for her to go behind the babies head to reach it
i had a few real contractions w/ back pain that i could feel yesterday but they went away. today i've been having them consistently since about 11 am (it's now almost 4 pm) they're not getting any closer together than they were earlier. they are def stronger than yesterday..
I haven't had my water break or my bloody show (but both my mom & sister had to have their water broken at the hospital) so im not sure what to do..
would you call? i dont want to go to the hospital & have it be a false alarm since i live so far away... plus i would feel dumb lol
Re: WWYD? labor related
they've been every 5 minutes which is why im considering it.
they last less than a minute.. the back pain is what i feel & then i touch my belly & its rock hard so i know i am contracting.
i have them whether im standing, sitting, or laying down. i was walking w/ them this am at the grocery store but im watching the pats game right now
Unless you know youre at risk of having a super fast L&D, I would wait until the contractions consistently get closer together and consistently get stronger. When you get to the point that you cant talk through them and you really have to start concentrating on getting through them then Id start heading to the hospital. They should start getting a bit closer together as well, but how far apart are they now? If they are already 5min apart and not getting closer I might considering going in already, but if they are more like 10 min apart and not getting closer Id probably wait.
Ultimately it's your call with what you feel comfortable with, but keep in mind that most labors are 15+ hours so I doubt itll go super fast. However if you dont mind being at the hospital for a longer amount of time while you labor you could go ahead and go in if you dont mind the trip. But if you definitely want to avoid going in for false labor try taking a bath to see if that slows down the contractions. BH (even painful ones) usually go away with a bath, but real labor wont (though it might slow down but it will probably pick right back up once youre out of the bath).
Also try drinking plenty of water and if you actually WANT labor to start maybe go for a walk to see if that kicks things up a notch for you.
GL!
yeah they've been about 5 min apart all day a few were all over the place but mostly at 5... i have been drinking all day i always due (i work at a bottled water company lol)
i am going to try taking a warm (not hot) bath now to see what happens & if they're still going im going to make DH take me & the dogs for a walk after dinner so we can kick this into gear i really didnt want to be induced at the end of the week..
It could definitely be early labor, or false labor. Haha, Im not much help. But that sounds like a good plan! Keep us updated!
ugh now im officially annoyed lol.. they kept going every 5 minutes after my bath but for some reason now they seem to have stopped... after over 7 hours they have all but disappeared....
does LO know i am trying to avoid being induced.. didnt get to go for a walk as it is dark & cold here in MA... im going to try the stairs at my house, finishing up some projects & more sex lol
Aw it mightve been False Labor then:( But it still probably did great things for your cervix! I know when I went in to L&D a few weeks ago for false labor mine were 5 minutes apart for 7 hours too and eventually went away. But the stairs and sex cant hurt!
