Follie size for triggering

What does your RE like to see?  Mine says 20-25, but I think I remember people mentioning smaller numbers - like maybe 18?   The reason I'm asking is b/c I had 3 big follies at my check today - 20, 18, and 17.   We're triggering tonight so the smaller ones don't have a chance to catch up or reach maturity.  I'm a bit nervous about multiples, and wondering if a 17 or 18 could really be mature (anyone have ute goggles I can borrow?!?)

    When we did our first IVF cycle the Dr. wanted to have 2 that were atleast an 18.  When I triggered I had 2-18's and a 19 plus several that were smaller and we had two great embryos to transfer.  So I would guess you have a good chance of the others maturing but I've only done IVF so it may be different?

    mine does 18 as well and then i trigger.

    Married 11/27/09 and TTC right away
    Dx: Complete septate uterus with cervical duplication, endometrial polyps, PCOS, endometriosis, hypo thyroid, luteal phase defect
    4 uterus surgeries to correct my complete septum and to remove polyps and 2 years of seeing the RE, medicated cycles and IUIs
    Baby 1 and 2: BFP 3/3/11 with 2 babies EDD 11/1/11, M/C 4/6/11
    Baby #3: 8/11 pregnant EDD 4/27/11 and m/c:(
    Baby #4: 10/12/11 BFP! EDD 6/16/12m/c 10/26/11
    Baby #5: 3/13/12 BFP! EDD 11/25/12 ANOTHER m/c :(

    Baby #6: 2/14/13- BFP! EDD 10/24/13, CP 2/19/13
    Baby #7: 3/15/13- BFP! EDD 11/27/13, another CP
    Baby #8.  BFP 5/19/13 EDD 1/22/14. 8 was not our lucky number

    4th septum resection on 5/31/13.
    Baby #9: 6/29/13 BFP. C section scheduled for March 5th!

    My miracle baby was born March 5 at 9:33am. He was 8 lbs 12.5 oz and 21.25 inches long!

    I haven't really paid close attention, but I *think* my RE likes them over 18 as well.
    Mom to Eliott Alexander, born sleeping at 37 weeks on 8/13/10. Most of us only dream of angels - I held one in my arms.

    The times that I have triggered, mine were 24mm and 22mm. I often thought they were too big as well.

    For IUI's my RE liked them around 20. I've had an IUI cycle cancelled before because of to many follicles so I'm sure if your RE was worried he would have canceled the cycle.

    Thanks ladies!  I am a bit nervous about having 3 borderline close, but I asked him a zillion times about it and he was confident that we're okay.  I guess I should just relax and have fun this weekend Stick out tongue

    My RE considers 16 to be mature.  Last December when I did an injects + TI cycle, I had 3 follies under 15, like maybe 15, 14 and 13 and she had me stim for one more day and then trigger.  The trigger does help the follies to continue to mature a bit before they release.  I felt like my trigger was much too soon though and I didn't get pregnant.  Every RE is different though, but many seem to consider 18 mature.  I would say a 17 would likely mature between trigger and IUI.  Best of luck.
