Help with Doctor!

Hi everyone! I am a FTM and am super confused so bare with me! I live in the Akron area and have the choice to deliver at City or General. I am in a large OB practice that breaks the docs down into the hospital they deliver. I LOVE my doctor but she only delivers at City. DH and I went on our tour this week and did not get a good vibe there what so ever, but we loved General. So now I am at a crossroad, do I chose where DH and I feel less comfortable delivering to stay with my doctor, or do I switch Dr's to one that delivers at General? Next question if you would like to share, what Dr's in the area would you recommend that deliver at General? I already have a few that family or friends have used but would love more input! I am glad I am a planner and am not due until May, so I have plenty of time to establish a relationship with a new Dr if need be! TIA

Re: Help with Doctor!

  • Personally if it were me I would stay where I was comfortable, my little one is 10 months old and he was my first and had I not been comfortable in the hospital it would have made the experience not as enjoyable as it should be.  I went to an office where the doctors delivered at both hospitals.   I primarily saw one particular doctor but if you happen to go into labor in the middle of the night you get the doctor on call but I had met most of the doctors in the office as they try and schedule at least 1 appointment with each of the doctors so you know them all.  The Reserve is where I went and primarily saw Dr Drake.  They have a Bath office, Hudson office and Green office. https://www.obgynreserve.com/  Good luck!

  • I would much rather my OB was there. BUT I have learned a LOT from DS birth. Our OB ( whom I really like) only delivers at general. That is the only hospital I went on a tour of and was okay with it ( i had nothing to compare it to). That being said, I did NOT have a great experience at general, yes my baby boy was born fine which is the most important thing.. but aside from that it was horrible. Knowing that, I will be looking for a new OB BEFORE I get pregnant again, and hope to find one that delivers at City.

  • Having a good doctor that you are comfortable with is very very important! My OB turned out not to be very smart. Sad
