Chemical burn from hair dye

I had my hair highlighted yesterday -- this is only the second time I've done this, so I wasn't really sure what to expect. At one point, after they had washed out the dye and put some other kind of chemicals in, they made me get up from the sink because someone else needed to use it. While I was sitting, some of the chemicals dripped into my eye and it was excruciating. I asked for a towel, and they gave me a wet towel and had me wash out my eye. I still felt like some of the chemicals were on my face, but I just kept wiping it off with the towel.

This morning I have two large streaks of red chemical burns on my face. It fuckinghurts. There's no blistering or anything, but my face and left eye are puffy and it just looks pretty awful. Obviously I'm never going back there, but would you call to *** at them? I don't know what I expect them to do, but when I was flushing out my eye, one of the stylists said, "Yeah, this doesn't usually happen because you're supposedl to be sitting at the sink while it's in your hair."

  • Are they open today? If so, I would go in and show them. Certainly would call and let management know

This. Plus I'd go see the doc if you are in a lot of pain or worried about scarring. I tried Veet (hair removal) one time and got major chemical burns and had to go to the doc to get a cream. Sorry that happened to you :(

  • Call and speak to the manager/owner. Or like PP said go in. I can't believe that something like happened and they gave you that type of response. Honestly they should have been more apologetic than they were. Sorry that happened to you.

  • I'm sorry you're dealing with that! I get my hair highlighted every few months and have never had that happen (thankfully!).  I'd definitely call and let them know what happened, and take a couple pictures to send the manager and let her know what happened (made you get up, and tell you that's not what they usually 'do').  Quite honestly, I'd want them to cover medical expenses (skin cream/dr visit) if you have them.
  • Thanks ladies. I spoke to the manager and she apologized and said to let her know if I need to go to the dr and they would pay for any medical bills. I don't think I need to go since it's just red.

Blech. I was planning on showing off my new hair tonight at a party, and now all anyone is going to see are these ugly marks on my face.

  • I would not only call their management, I would go see a doctor.  I once had a chemical burn on my eyeball and it's terrible.
