Hyland's Teething tablets

Sorry to be posting so much today but another question - what do you ladies think about Hyland's teething tablets? I hope i won't need them for a looooong time but plan to ask pedi about them as well at the 4 month appointment. I know there was a recall last year due to the belladonna in them but have you heard anything new since then (can't figure out if they changed anything in them besides the bottle design)? Would you ladies use them? TIA!

Re: Hyland's Teething tablets

  • We never used them because he was teething right around that giant recall time! But, I probably won't use them in the future either, the whole issue freaked me out a little. We always have just done ibuprofen and frozen washcloths for him to gum on, that was all the pedi ever suggested. Some people use Orajel, but there was a big controversy about that too and I'm too much of a worrier for that as well!

  • We bought Humphrey's teething pellets, same deal, no recall.  Walgreen's has them.
  • We use them and like them. We also have some from mom-and-pop homeopathic company.

The old Hylands ones had to be recalled because the amount of belladonna on the label vs. the amount when tested was different, but the amount was not harmful.  It was a labeling issue, not a safety issue. I don't know anyone into homeopathy who even stopped using the bottles they had. I think Hyland's press releases said that the new changes were new packaging and child-proof lids.

  • We used them, but I'm honestly not sure if they worked. Nothing put a dent in teething like ibuprofen did (and still does).
  • Ok, that's helpful, thank you all very much!

  • We used them, and they worked. What worked even better was Camillia drops by boron from whole foods. They were AMAZING.
