my sister likes this name for her baby if it's a boy. It is pronounced
like brody minus the r. so long o sound and e at the end. what do you
think? she likes bodie. last name is one syllable.[Poll]
Honestly? The name is so bad, it's hard to pick a spelling. Normally, I would say NMS, but I can't get behind this as a legit name. It looks misspelled both ways. I guess if I had to pick one, I would say Bodie, because Bode looks like it would be pronounced like the word abode. Hopefully she picks something else!

Or the word bode, as in "this does not bode well".

Like others have said Bode is a word in the English Dictionary. If she wants it pronounced correctly, she needs to put the -ie at the end.
And yeah - the kid is bound to be skateboarding to work at the age of 40 with this name.
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.

I think of Bode Miller, so I am comfortable with that spelling. I don't have any problems with Bodie, either since I think it's more phonetic.

bodie is an old french name and means "one who brings the news" - i LOVE the name - so many liams, tylers, charlies, etc. out there - i think is it a refreshing change of pace-
He's named after a teenage drug dealer on the HBO show The Wire.
Bodhi is translated to mean "enlightenment" and is the name of the tree Buddha sat under after he received enlightenment. It isn't an American version, but certainly has a nice meaning.
I instantly think of Bode Miller so I would assume Bode is pronounced Boe-dee. If I didn't know Bode Miller then I would probably pronounce Bode as Boad (rhymes with road). I don't think either are common names so I think I would go with the spelling that is more intuitive in its pronunciation.

I could hold you for a million years
to make you feel my love.
Bode is the correct spelling and I voted for it but I can see people not getting that the end should sound like "ie"...still not an excuse to change the name IMHO.
"Normal day, let me be aware of the treasured day you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart...let me hold you while I may."
Re: which baby name spelling do you like better for this name? if you like the name at all..
Bode = bohd
Bodie = bo-dee
Not a fan, it sounds like a little kid's name that won't age well.
Or the word bode, as in "this does not bode well".

Either way I think Bodie sounds childish and silly.
I'm sorry, but I have to be honest here. I don't like that name at all. It reminds me of the famous trumpet player, Chris Botti (pronounced Bow-dee).
I agree with PPs, in saying that I don't think this name would age well.
