Hi ladies. I usually lurk on the TTGP board but was directed here when I posted this question there. I'm wondering if anyone has gone through what I learned yesterday at my RE appointment.
History: I have polycystic ovaries and never got a natural period and didn't ovulate until last month after being on Metformin for three months. Once I got over that hurdle I thought I was in the clear. I went in for an ultrasound to check for ovulation and a P/C exam yesterday and found out maybe not all is ok.
My results showed low CM (between 1 and 3 days before ovulation) and low sperm count and motility. Was directed for my husband to get an SA and to take Robitussin around O to try and increase CM.
Anyone have either or both of these problems? Wondering what the next step might be if my husband's sperm is actually low in count and motility, and not just a fluke with yesterday's exam.

I don't have exact numbers- all I know is that less than half of the normal number of motile sperm.
And the RE just said my CM was much thinner than it should be.

The actual drug that helps with CM that is in Robitussin is Muscinex (whatever the generic form is - ((Guefenasin?? sp?)) look on the box). But you can take it as a pill without getting additional drugs that are in cough medicine. If you do use that be sure to look at the active drugs...get the most plan one, not DM. And with that said - yes I have used that to increase my CM back when I was around 9 months TTC and got GOBS of EWCM. IT works really well with just a low dose once a day taken from cd4 to ovulation.
As for sperm question - yes get an S/A because the point of a p/c test from my understanding is to see not how many sperm he has; but how they survive in your CM. Because some women have more acidic CM that kills of the sperm. A p/c test is not a good indication if you are dealing with MFI issues. Once your DH has that done - come back and we can help you go over the results.

I may have said that incorrectly- my doctor was worried I wasn't producing enough CM to allow the sperm to survive. Not that CM should be thick, but that at that point in my cycle I should have had more of it. Thanks for the thoughts!
Thanks for the suggestion about the pill form for Muscinex. And for when to take it- I wasn't sure how many days before ovulation I should be taking it.
My husband will be going for the SA on Monday so we'll see what happens then. I will report back with numbers as soon as he gets those results. Thanks for the help!
