Need restaurant recs - please

Hi ladies,

My Bff is coming into town next weekend with her family.  They are staying in the Buckhead/Midtown area at a hotel. She has 4 kids, twin boys 10, 2 girls (7 and 5).  She wants to know of good, healthy, fun places to take the kids for food.  She does NOT let her kids eat Fast food...no hot dogs, hamburgers, french fries.  They apparently love Thai food and will eat all kinds of food.

I'm at a loss, especially for that area...but also beacuse I can't fathom a kid friendly type of restaurant that doesn't include a kids menu with those options :-) I guess it could include those options, she just doesn't let them have them!

I thought of Eclipse di Luna? Seasons 52? Jason's Deli?  anything else would be most appreciated!

  • Jason's is a family favorite here.  All of the kids foods are organic and pretty healthy.  We also do a lot of Chinese with Emma.  We don't order her anything special.  She just eats what we do - no kids menu necessary.  That said, we always do it take out, not dining in the restaurant.  Enzo's pizza here in Tucker is pretty good too.  California Pizza Kitchen, Mellow Mushroom, etc. might be good ideas.  Pretty kid friendly too.

  • If they love Thai, why not try that?  The kids are a little older, so Spoon or Surin would be fine.  They don't have kids menus, per se, but they can split a dish.

  • If they have a car, I suggest Mali restaurant in the Highlands. It's where we get thai food all hte time. Also Murphy's or El Taco in the highlands are good choices. We take the boys to all of these and they are younger.

In midtown: south city kitchen is good especially love their brunch.

West midtown: Yeah Burger (they have really good grilled chicken plus their hamburgers are organic), West Egg, Star Provisions has sandwiches at lunch, Figo Pasta.

Buckhead: Twist or Tavern at Phipps, Buckhead Bread, Flying Biscuit, Zoe's Kitchen

That's all I can think of right now.

  • Thanks so much Ladies!  I always feel so out of touch when i've not even heard of most of these places (let alone been to them myself).  I'm so in the restaurant rut!
  • If they happen to hit the Zoo area- Grant Park Central (pizza), Dakota Blue (southwesternish) and Doc Chey's (thai) are all great choices and kid friendly- and I know for certain the last two have kid menus.

Ditto this. We do this a lot after the zoo when we go on the weekend. You get a free kid's portion on Sat or Sun (or both, not sure) with their preferred customer card.
