Austin Babies

Austin fertility doctors

Hello all,

I have been lurking around here for a while (I usually "hang out" on TTC 35+).

A bit about my background:  I lived in Austin for about 10 years but now am working in Philadelphia (and will move back to Austin in May).  My husband lives in Austin and we are trying to get pregnant.

I had my first IUI this morning at my OB/GYN, and my husband was referred to a doctor with Austin Fertility and Reproductive Medicine.  I was just curious if anyone had used them for male IF issues and what your experiences were?

Thanks for any help, and I look forward to being on the board more when I move back to Austin full time.

Re: Austin fertility doctors

  • Welcome!

I went to Dr Seeker at Austin Area OBGYN and I love him and his office.  We didn't have male IF issues, but we ended up doing several IUIs anyway, the last one resulting in Kate.  :)  His office will do everything except for IVF.

  • welcome and I'm sorry you are having infertillity issues.  We also have male factor infertility and see Dr. Vaughn at Texas Fertility Center.  I've heard of Austin Infertility but I think they are fairly new here to the game where as TFC has been around forever.  We were referred to a urologist to try and address some of our sperm issues.  We went to a fertility specialist in houston he is nationally recognized and hey not that far to drive to.  We ultimately did IVF with ICSI to get pregnant.  That was with Dr. Vaughn.  We were successful on our first try and have 3 frozen embryo transfers waiting for us.  Our loss had nothing to do with our infertillity issues.

We see Dr. Vaughn at Texas Fertility Center.

He is great and we love him! Sorry you are going through this but I felt very much confident in him and will use him any other times we need IF treatments.

  • We saw Dr. Hansard at TFC and we love her.  We are expecting in Feb. from an IUI.

    Lots of luck to you!

  • I used Dr. Moghadam at Austin Fertility Institute.  He's newer to town (been here a little over a year now), but I found him great - very caring and invested in his patients.  It's a small practice, which has its pros and cons, but I felt I got good care there.
  • We used them and were very happy with our experience. Our issue was not male IF, though (I'm the problem). We saw the younger Dr. K and he has an AMAZING bedside manner. I found him to be very open to our ideas/opinions and up-to-date on research. We got pregnant with our daughter on our 4th IUI with him.

  • We saw Dr. Vaughn at TFC as well.  I really liked him and well, he got us pregnant.  I will admit I sometimes did feel like just a number there though, but going to a big office does have perks like early morning and weekend hours.  I think Austin Fertility and Reproductive Medicine is a smaller group/office which there can be good and bad things about.  I have not personally heard any feedback about them though.  Good luck with your journey!

I second Dr. Moghadam...he is fabulous. It is a small (but growing) practice, but everyone knows your name and what is going on with you at all times. You can walk in the door and trust you are in great hands.

  • Hey there!  We're at Tx Fert Ctr too with Dr Burger.  I like that it is a large practice bc you can always get in to see someone.  I've liked all the dr's there.
