2nd Trimester

My left butt cheek feels like an elephant is stepping on it ALL DAY!

I swear I have a permanent charlie horse in my left butt cheek.  It's at it's worst in the morning when I get up.  I can hardly stand up and walk to the door (which is no less than 4 feet from my bed so it shouldn't really be an issue.)  Does anyone else have weird pains/charlie horses?  I swear being pregnant brings on some of the most odd symptoms...

  • My tailbone was killing me last night, and I could not do anything to make it better.  I've never had anything wrong with it, so I just chalked it up to one of those pregnancy pains I've been told I'll get.

  • Sounds like you both could benefit from some good chiropractic care.

    Hope you feel better soon.

  • YES! I have that exact pain. I feel like I pulled a muscle in my left butt cheek. And sometimes if I sit down, I really can't get back up it hurts so bad. I have chalked it up to it being my sciatic nerve. That's what most people are telling me. But I have my next OB appointment Monday and I'll be sure to bring this up.
  • I had what felt like someone stabbing my left butt cheek for most of my first trimester and part of the second. Happy to have that pain gone, but now I have mild cramping all the time and lower back pain. I have not been able to find my heating pad since we moved, but will definitely be looking for it again this weekend.

  • Sounds like you need to stretch the piriformus muscle in your butt.

  • I get this super awful charlie horse in my right foot that makes my 2nd toe do this sort of nose dive to the floor... hurts like you wouldn't believe :-/
  • If it as Charley horse could be dehydration or a lack of calcium and/or potassium.

Try drinking more water, have a glass of milk and a banana. Happened to a friend of mine while she was preggers and once she incorporated more potassium in her diet cramps went away.

Hope this helps and you fell better!

  • My left butt cheek has been killing me too...I asked my ob what sciatic pain is like she said is it in your butt cheek...so maybe that is what you are experiencing too!?

My coworker who is also preg had to have her sciatic nerve worked on while pregnant because it got so bad.  She said the pain was in her tailbone and butt cheek and extremely painful to the point where she could barely walk or sit down.

OP I agree with ajswart and think this may be worth checking out.

  • I have the same pain i thought i wasn't going to be able to walk. It definately is the sciatic nerve. We are told to sleep on our left side for the baby and that makes it worse.Sleeping with a body pillow and switching sides thru the night helped alot.
