I've been making my own baby food, but when we went out to dinner yesterday we decided to use some of the gerber bananas that MIL gave us (STFU MIL). I opened the container because I was only going to feed her half. DH was curious and licked the lid to see what it tasted like.
Then he made me try it. That was seriously gross! And it tasted nothing like bananas. Needless to say, I defrosted some squash and she ate that at the restaurant.
Re: Have you ever tasted jarred baby food?
I agree the bananas are not good. I think the other foods taste fine. I actually really liked the prunes (weird, I know) and I used to eat my niece's peaches when I fed them to her.
If I may brag a bit, my homemade applesauce is much better than the jarred and LO likes fresh sweet potatoes more than jarred because he enjoys a little chunkiness sometimes.
I have only tasted the apples and it tasted just like applesauce to me...
We give DS Gerber NatureSelect.
I tasted the bananas and thought the flavor was strange too, mine had added vitamin c and one other added ingredient. I was also wondering why there were no seeds inside?
I plan on making my own purees anyway, I just tried a jar last night in a desperate attempt to get LO to sleep better. I'm going to stick with the store bought for 3 days then try my own sweet potatoes.
no I haven't and I'm afraid to. ahaha i sound like a bad mom!
DH fed her winter squash and green peas. I should try them so I know. Geez!
