We have a nice sturdy wooden one that we got for our wedding (I'm too short to reach the highest cabinets) that they use in the kitchen. And we just got plastic ones from target (less then $10) for the bathroom.
We got this one for DS after rave reviews from my sister. It folds flat (which is a must in our tiny bathroom), but is very sturdy when it's open. DS still gets a thrill from setting it up himself and folding it away. It comes in a few other colors (red and white for sure, maybe more). I've also seen a slightly smaller ones in colors like baby blue and pink at Michael's.
I love this one from ikea https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80159519/ it is higher then most stool and works for kitchen counter and put him high enough in the bathroom to reach the facet. It is only $8.
I'm not a fan of the wood ones, because they are SO slippery with socks.
What is it for - toilet, or just anything?
Toilet, we have a Looster Booster, it's really nice! Also a large plastic princess one with raised "nubs". I am all about the texture to prevent falls.

We have that one from IKEA too. I love that it's higher than most other stools which is especially nice for the kitchen. I originally wanted a wooden step stool because I think they look nicer but the wooden ones are just too heavy.

Here's the princess one, which I feel is a little larger and sturdier than some other plastic ones we've bought.
