Hello Ladies,
I'm not sure if this is a good place to post this question, but I feel like I need a little help. I'm having trouble with losing weight, and I feel like the problem for me is 100% mental. I KNOW what I need to do - eat less, eat better, exercise more - but I'm having trouble actually doing it.
Basically, when it comes to taking care of myself physically, I have a huge lack of self control. This isn't really a trend for me, I am very much in control financially, I keep a clean home, I excel at work, but for some reason, I just can't seem to flip the switch when it comes to losing weight.
Has anyone else been here and found a frame of mind that works? I have tried counting calories, C25K, working out with DH, paleo, even just "moderation", and can't seem to stick to anything. As of right now, I'm not totally overweight (5'5, 155ish), but I feel like thinking about losing weight is consuming my life, hurting my sex life w/ DH, and hurting my self esteem, but I'm just not getting anywhere.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Re: Making a mental change (little long)
I've had some success with avoiding salt and sugar whenever possible (I do have a weakness for coffee creamer, though) and just trying to eat "real" foods. I try to avoid anything hydrogenated or otherwise lab-created whenever possible. askdrsears.com has been really helpful to me with their nutrition advice
Good luck!
We did a slow transition at our house.
1. Cutting back on soda & juices - buying half the amount, and then eventually doing away with the soda completely. When the juice runs out then that's it. I don't buy anymore until next month.
2. Cutting back on the processed/white breads, pasta, etc... try multigrain, whole wheat, gluten free options.
3. Cutting out the unhealthy snacks - cut the chips, processed snack bag things. We bought an air popper for popcorn, and pretzels for a "salty" type snack.
4. Buy more fresh fruit options - more veggies (the hard green ones like broccoli, red cabbage that don't spoil so quickly)
good luck!
