Daycare- The perfect problem- Long- sorry.

So I don't know what I expect from this post, but I'm trying to process this and hopefully come up with the "right" answer. (The truth is, he'll probably be fine at either place)
We have spots available at two daycares. The one he currently attends, Bright Horizons @ the All Saints' Center downtown and the other is the Clifton School- Clifton campus. We applied for the waitlist at the Clifton school back when DS was supposed to be transitioning @ Bright Horizons, but they were over-crowded and transitioned a bunch of the new one yr olds to a "back-up" room until space became available in the regular toddler rooms. I HATED how this was handled, in addition to that I was dealing with a miscarriage, so might have been a bit emotional.
I just took the tour of the Clifton campus, and I'm just not as blown away as I wanted to be. I do like that they do one big transition in June as opposed to the constant in and out of classmates at BH. The class size is smaller at Clifton, but so is the room. DS would go back to napping on mats; he's currently sleeping on little cots at BH. Clifton school would be cheaper for the next 8 months, but then be more expensive. (Clifton drops their rates between infant and toddler, BH drops their rates between 1yr and 2yr). BH is NAEYC accredited. Clifton used to be and is doing the new state rating deal.
I used to work right next to BH, so the location was GREAT. My office moved north, so now I just drop off/pick up on the way through town. Clifton is right next to where my DH works, and is for the most part closer to me as well.
I know he'll be fine at either place. I guess I was just looking for that warm fuzzy feeling at the Clifton school to make this decision easier on me.

One of my good friends is at the Clifton School - Clairmont Campus. She can't say enough wonderful things. From the way the school is run with, with very involved parents and staff to the highly trained teaching staff to the fact that the kids spend so much time outdoors exploring. She just loves it there. Her son got in at age 2 and they haven't looked back. In fact she just had her 2nd child and while she sorta wants to become a SAHM her son is thriving so much at Clifton she wants him to continue and the same for the new baby.
Clifton is a Reggio Emilia inspired school and they stick very much to the program. If you haven't researched their philosphy, you can learn a lot online. My son is at a Reggio preschool and it has been fantastic for him.

We've been at The Clifton School - Clairmont Campus since DS was 10 months old ... we started in Toddler 1 and are currently in our 2nd year in the preschool piazza. I can't speak specifically to the Clifton Campus, but we've been quite happy at the Clairmont Campus. We've generally loved the teachers he's had, and especially love the ones he's had in preschool. While I don't know what you were looking for in the "warm fuzzy feeling" for the school, but I've found it to be a warm, safe, healthy place to be. DH works at Emory hospital, so location is fantastic for us; plus we love that it's open until 6:30p, just in case. TCS isn't perfect, but I thikn it's a fantastic place. That said, I've heard great things about Bright Horizons, so I think you just need to figure out what's the best fit for your family.
