Is there something going around?

DS was sent home from daycare today with a fever of 101.6. He just seems kind of out of it but not complaining about any particular pain/ickiness. Gave him some motrin and now he's napping on the sofa, but the fever hasn't budged. Anyone else dealing with this? Any idea what it could be? Looks like our busy weekend will end up being a stay-around-the-house type instead (no complaints!!)

Yes, I think so. In my small group at work, 5 of us have had kids out with fevers this week. My kiddo had similar symptoms to yours -- moderate fever, lethargic, and the ibuprofen only got his temp down to 99-100. But he didn't have any other obvious symptoms. I took him to the pedi on day 3 of the fever, because I was worried he had an ear infection. Nope, he was clear. The fever finally went away after 4 days.

The pedi said they were seeing a lot of kids with 3-5 day fevers with no other symptoms.

DD has been a little "off" this week and has been sleeping like a champ. DCP woke her up from a 3.5 Indifferent hour nap yesterday because she was worried about her. She had a mild fever - 100.5 - Wednesday morning and I kept her home because I was certain she was coming down with something, but she's been happy, playing - just sleeping more than normal. She has a condition that causes her to get more UTIs so we have her on daily preventive antibiotics so it's possible she and the drugs are fighting off something. DH was sick most of this week.

Yes. DS had it starting the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Took him to Dr. that Monday and he did have an ear infection. However the following Wednesday he broke out in a rash- Roseola! He was MISERABLE!

Last Saturday DS slept all day and refused to eat - no fever. DD got sent home from daycare on Monday for the same thing... but no fever and she said her stomach was bothering her. It apparently went through DS's classroom and started in on the siblings. I had it on Wednesday.

Thanks ladies. He took about a 30 minute power nap and the fever has come down a tiny bit to 100.8. He's acting relatively ok, watching cartoons and chatting with me, but his cheeks are quite rosy and he's not touching his lunch. At least it's the weekend and we can veg out at home.
