Anyone else planning on getting some serious grooming done in time for delivery?
I am personally getting bushwhacked (tmi? sorry), legs waxed, a haircut, and my nails done. In fact, I do believe I'm getting multi-colored polka dots with a black background on my toes for the occasion. I've set appointments for 12/24 and will just get my nails kept up every 2 weeks if I make it that far.
Re: Getting pretty for delivery
Hmm, hadn't thought about it yet!
I have a feeling I'll still be able to maintain the hair situation, but the idea of a mani and pedi before sounds nice. Not necessarily to have nice toes for delivery, but just to relax and be pampered. Maybe I'll take my mom and sister along for some bonding
I have been wanting to try a shellac manicure, so this may be a good excuse! And I never pamper myself, so DH would fully support this idea. Hmmm
Ha! Bushwhacked! Love it! I considered doing the same but the person I go to for waxing has only ever done my eyebrows. I'm not sure I'd be able to look her in the eye again if she sees the state of my vag. It's a jungle down there...
A mani/pedi sounds divine and I may indulge on that one.
I have short hair that needs to be cut every 6-8 weeks. I'm having a baby shower on Jan 8th so I think I'll get it done the day before and I should be good until late Feb/early March. I have gel nails and get them, my toes and my eyebrows done every 3-4 weeks. I'll have them done just before Christmas and again a week before my EDD. In the winter I usually only shave my legs before my pedicure so I'll do that and maybe shave again during early labor. I need to trim up my girly bits sometime in the next day or two... This is all routine grooming for me so it's not like I'm going out of my way to do it.
I wish that I was brave enough to get waxed, so not the case though. I'll trim down there though. I also received a gift card for a mani/pedi for one of my showers so I'd like to use that before. Like pp said, not necessarily for delivery but just some fun pampering before hand. I'm getting my hair cut and dyed this weekend but that is just the regular schedule I keep anyways. I'm hoping my sister will "fix me" after delivery before too many pics looking like I just went through a tornado. Vain? Maybe but whatever..
Anyone planning on taking make-up with them to the hospital? I'd rather not have mine on during delivery, but it will make me feel better when everyone is snapping pics later on.

I'm still undecided. I don't wear makup on a daily basis but I know I'll be having my picture taken a lot by friends and family and I might want to look a bit more human. I might take just the basics-some tinted moisturizer, neutral shadow, some mascara and maybe a lip stain (so I don't get lip stick all over LO). Thinking about it, I'll probably take it. I'd rather have it and not use it than not have it and wish I did.
I actually went for a mani/pedi today and it was heavenly. It was just the basic service but even the simple massage on my legs, feet and hands was amazing. I had a groupon so it was about half as much as usual but I think that I will be going back in the next couple of weeks if I get a chance.
I am getting my hair cut/styled tomorrow for DH's company Christmas party tomorrow night so I should be good until March or so with that. I have been keeping up with trimming and shaving so far so I am hoping to be able to have one last opportunity before baby arrives. I will probably bring my make-up and face wash to the hospital to keep up with my daily routine. I usually only wear foundation, eye shadow and mascara so we will see what I want to do when I am in the hospital.
I don't think I'm going into labor anytime soon but these little nesting rituals make me feel better :-)
I think it's just to make you feel a little better about yourself and about the state that your body is in and will be in once you push a watermelon out of you (thanks for the visual stupid "how big is baby?" list). Also, there is so much that we can't control about the experience that its the little things, right?

Well for me, I get my nails done regularly, so that's no big deal. As far as the waxing the lady bits, I figure it might make cleaning up and after care post delivery a bit easier to be groomed down there.
And really, it's just a nice bit of pampering before taking on a huge job of delivering a baby and taking care of a newborn.
It's not that hard to understand, really.

I really want a nice pedicure before the baby. Polka dots sounds fun! I normally paint and do my own toes, but since I have to hold my breath to reach them they just don't look very good right now.
I just got my hair highlighted today, and love it.
I still shave my lady bits twice a week and will continue to do so. No, I can't see what I am doing, but I just guess. Growing it in is not an option because it makes me itch and going around itching my crotch all day is not fun or cute:)
I won't bother with makeup during delivery. I don't wear makeup unless I have somewhere to go typically, but I will bring makeup for all of the hospital photos and all of the guests I will have. I want to look back and not feel like I look completely dreadful.
And if I sweat my hair into a disgusting mess, I am kind of hoping my sister and law will come give me a blowout so I feel fresh again. I care more about good hair than good makeup:) Maybe I am vain, but it just makes me feel better, especially with so many people coming around.

To me it's a last minute bit of pampering yourself before your whole world is turned upside down and you become lowest on the priority list for a while. It's not really a "concept".
I'll be getting a mani/pedi and I'm so looking forward to it once I'm officially on maternity leave!

It's just like pampering yourself any other time of the year. But this time it has benefits because by the end of the pregnancy you're probably not going to be able to do all these things yourself, so you have them done for you. Plus, like a PP said, you're soon going to become the "low man on the totem pole" so why not enjoy that last little bit before LO comes.
Hi neighbor! Just wanted to give you the heads up on the shellac. It worked amazingly well for a friend of mine BUT we had it done at the same time and because of pregnancy hormones, mine peeled off in less than a week. I thought it was a fluke but did a little googling (and called the salon back) and found that it happens often in pregnant women. Just wanted to give you the heads up and didn't want you to waste your $$ in case it happens to you too!
Enjoy the pampering!
I've been attempting to keep 'the area' in tidy shape, but when he gets here it will be as it will be.
I have a hair appointment for 12/21 to get my roots colored for the last time pre-baby. Plan on getting a pedicure sometime around then as well. That's about it!
I am planning a wax, and maybe getting my toes done. I think both of those things will just make me feel better and more cute!
