Anyone else that had a C-section having bad back pain? I'm 3 1/2 weeks post-op, and my lower back is killing me still. I'm also still sore in front, but nothing like my back! Is anyone else having back pain after C-section? Is this normal?
Me!! I have been complaining about a back ache since my c-section. I have heard a few reasons that this happens.
1) There is a risk with epidural that the "lingering" side effects are back ache for up to 1 year. A friend of mine did NOT have a c-section but had her baby in October via vaginal delivery and is still complaining about back ache.
2) My lower back is killing me I think from lifting, changing, and holding LO different ways. We are using muscles we have never used before, or in a way that we aren't used to. I also wonder if we over compensate because the front (incision) still hurts and the ab muscles aren't quite back to normal yet.
3) Because of the c-section and recovery involved, I know that I have been sitting a lot more than normal and that is part of it, as well. The pressure on the tailbone...
Hope that helps and the pain goes away soon! I'm there with you, though...
I had a lot of lower back aches after my c-section but it has since stopped and my peanut is 6 weeks old. I was told by the nurses that it was from the spinal - I got poked three times before it was correct and there was a lot of moving around of the needle as they tried to place it.... I have arthritis in my upper back and that has been bothering me but that's not pregnancy/ birth related... it's just acting up because of carrying the baby and his car seat around.

I haven't had the back pain, but I do still have a numb spot on my butt from the damned hospital beds.
I do have a weird spot between my belly button and my incision that feels like the skin is bruised..anyone have that weirdness?
That makes sense! Lets hope it doesn't last for much longer...Thanks for the info!
