Can I get wait list dust?

We got back some fabulous Christmas pictures of the girls. Deb from Virtu photography said she'd do pictures for us 3 years ago and we finally got our schedules to meet up! I'll try to put some up later.

They're perfect in everyway. Except it's completely obvious that Emily's eyes are not focusing forward like they should =(. They go outward. It's distractingly goofy looking and makes me concerned. I don't want my baby to have to wear glasses =( The kid will barely keep her shoes on when it's zero degrees outside!! I've kind of *thought* I could see her left eye wander a little and that's the eye that was filled with blood when she was born. The whole reason we chose to seek eye care sooner rather than later.

We had our 2nd visit with Dr Onan 2 months ago and this was one of the specific "overcorrective" behaviors that she asked us to watch for. Our next appt is in May and there's nothing else for the next 6 months. So we're on the wait list for a sooner appt.

I want for her to been seen ASAP. I'm not willing to see anyone else. So the best I can hope for is the wait list. I want my baby to see the world clearly!

It was super windy ;)

Re: Can I get wait list dust?

  • lots of wait list dust.  fwiw my neice had a similar problem her eye would stray out-- it was called strabismus I think.  She had surgery and now she's perfect.  No glasses.  I know surgery is scary but I think it's pretty common.

ETA: They are SO beautiful!!! I cant see what you're talking about at all, but you're her mom, so I'm sure you know better.

  • Sending lots of *~*wait list dust*~* your way.  I didn't really notice what you were talking about in the first pic, but I can kind of see what you mean in the second pic comparing her to your other daughter.  I have a friend who had the same condition and she had surgery on her eye and things are back to normal now.  I hope you get to talk to your Doctor soon!

  • I'm sorry you're having to worry about this. Lots of ***dust*** that she is able to be seen sooner rather than later!

I've heard really good things about that office too.

Honestly, I would never have noticed the problem, at least not from the pics. I think she looks adorable and it's not distracting at all! That being said, if it was my child I would be doing what you are doing as well and try to get her treatment as soon as possible. Lots of wait list dust!

  • Lots of dust! As many times as I have looked at Emily, I have never noticed that about her eyes until you pointed it out. Hmph.

    THe pictures are awesome!

  • Wait list dust headed your way.

FWIW, we've run into the same issue with Onan and were offered an earlier appointment.  I hope you get that call!

  • I can see it.  I can see it in my DD too.  Apparently only DH and I ever notice because not one other person has mentioned it, not even her teachers.  Anyway, I called for an appointment in JULY and we just saw the Dr. THIS TUESDAY.  Hello, long wait.  I was fearful of doing more damage or her going blind or something in the meantime (worst-case-scenario jumper over here).  But, it's still happening very infrequently (once a week maybe, that I notice) and she can still see.  We noticed in July and called pretty immediately, blah.

I don't want to hijack your post, so I'll start another.  But, I do hope you are able to get in earlier.  Wait list dust!!!

  • They're so gorgeous!

FWIW, I don't think it's that obvious. I'll send the dust anyway.  My mom had one eye that crossed when she was little.  She had surgery when she was around 3, I think.  I hope E can get in sooner and get it figured out!

  • First off, your pics are gorgeous.  Love them!

Secondly, tons of dust that you can get an earlier appt!

Third, I've not noticed a cross eye thing and I can't really tell from the pictures.  I've seen her struggle to focus on things that are super close up a few times, but I thought it was related to the farsightedness?  It's never seemed to bother her or slow her down.

Fourth, she'll be fine if she needs glasses.  Dare I say, adorable?  Girl loves accessories,  maybe it'll be the same with the glasses?  You can just tell her that they're hair pretties.  :)
