Did you do the wedding ring / needle and thread test? Did it show both genders?

No. I actually had a dream that I had a boy and girl when I was about 3 weeks pregnant (we did IVF), this was the first time I ever dreamed I had children and they were mine. Ever since then I thought they possibly were a boy and girl. Then our U/S confirmed it.

Take a strand of hair and loop it through your wedding ring (or you can use a needle and thread) and hold it over either your wrist or belly. Moving in circles means girl and back and forth like a pendulum means boy. There's b/g twins all over my family (including my mom) and she keeps telling me she has a feeling I'll have them too. Well today when I tried the test, I got both boy and girl so I'm starting to wonder if she's right. What's even more weird is that if I do it over the left side of belly or wrist, it's girl and right side, it's boy. But in the middle, it alternates back and forth between the two. My first U/S isn't until late next week so I just wanted to see if it worked on anyone else.

Ok, I'm confused. Have you already had an u/s to confirm twins or do you think you might be having twins because your wedding ring went both directions?

No my u/s isn't until next week so nothing's been confirmed (although my HCG count was unusually high). I just thought it was odd and since there's a strong genetic predisposition towards twins, thought I'd check with others and see if any of you had similar results early on.

A lot of my family and friends used that test and it was always accurate but no one with twins. I guess I'll just have to be patient and wait for my u/s.

It alternated back and forth between the two when I held it over the middle of my belly and swung girl on the left side, boy on the right. Everyone else in my due date club that did it just got one or the other, not both, and most seasoned mothers said it had been accurate with all their other pregnancies. If it's not twins, then my baby might just be a hermaphrodite (kidding).

I'm just wondering what it would do for someone that already knows they're having b/g twins.

I'm sorry, wha? So should I do it over my belly or theirs? Huh?

For the record, once I'd found out the genders of my babies it never even crossed my mind to 'test it out' in this manner.

I used this thing called an ultrasound to tell me that mine were B/G twins. From what I hear from well-seasoned mothers, it's very accurate.

Clearly you have forgotten what it's like to be an excited newly pregnant woman. Even though I have my first u/s next week, I still won't know the sex for another 8-10 weeks. Sorry to bother you.

I have heard of this before. My grandmother swears by it. Don't let others get you down. I was excited too when I first found out. This is my 3rd pregnancy. Just for fun and kicks a girl and I did this at work. I took a string and my wedding ring and it swung back and forth (boy) and then in a circle (girl). My co-worker was like "you're having two"...i just said "Shut your mouth!"...well 2 weeks later I had my first ultrasound and guess what....TWINS! I don't know what the sexes are yet, I go in January.

I never did anything either, but I did have a feeling it was b/g twins. Actually we saw the babies on ultrasound at 10w6d and I told my husband that Baby A was a girl and Baby B was a boy and I was right!

I did that version of the test where it shows how many kids you'll have and their sexes. I got 3 kids total. Yeah, I've got 4.
