I think we decided not to do a party this year for Dylan but I feel really bad about it. Well sort of. I feel like he won't know the difference this year anyways but I still feel a little guilty. It's just really hard because we don't have the room even for our immediate family. And being that his b-day is 5 days before Christmas it's just such a busy time. Last year we rented a lodge for his 1st b-day but I don't really want to go through all that again. I think we're going to just go out to eat the 4 of us and have cake at home.
Re: Anyone NOT do a b-day party for their LO?
Don't feel guilty. I most likely wouldn't do it if I were you, either. I would love to not have a big party for Ian because his birthday falls during the middle of my crazy time at work, and I'd much rather just keep it simple with him, DH, and maybe my parents or DH's mom, but I always get this horrible look from DH any time I mention it.
Anyway, I think you're fine with something for just the 4 of you. There will be time for bigger parties when he wants to involve his friends.
I say don't stress it! Like you said he is so young he won't even care or remember!
We are switching to a friend party for Chelsea this year. She'll be 4 and she's in preschool now so we'll invite kids her age and their parents, and probably just my dad and mom will be there too for family. And I am NOT having it at our house anymore! Having that many people here in late January is not my idea of a good time. I'm ready to let someone else clean up the mess.
Molly's birthday is July 1st so it kind of gives us a reason to have a great pool party for the 4th each year! That is easier because everyone is outdoors and it is a lot easier to keep everyone entertained.
This just made me crack up! I love Ellie!
This is exactly our take on birthday parties. We did a big party for Stella's first and will do the same for Audrey. For their future birthday's it will just be immediate family at our house for dinner and cake.
