I'm surprised you got an internal before you hit 36 weeks! I still haven't had mine yet...
What did the OB say? Any restrictions? I complained of lots of BH last visit, and the doc said, "you're 35 weeks. if you go into labor, you go into labor."
At 28 weeks I was 1cm. I am currently 2 CM. Did they tell you anything todo. I would think they would want you to reset and keep hydrated but to be honest you can still go full term. My sister was 4 CM at 28 weeks and had her DD at 38. So 10 weeks. Good Luck

I can't tell you from personal experience since this is my first...but...my mom's water broke at 35 weeks with my sister in 2001 (and the baby was perfectly healthy and went home in the normal 2 day time frame) and my cousin was dilated to 3 cm for four weeks before she actually went into labor in August of this year.
Was your OB concerned? Are you contracting regularly?
I've been sitting at 3cm since week 36. You can stay dilated for weeks and nothing can happen. I'm at a 4 now (since last Monday) and I'm still pregnant.
Cervical dilation is not an indicator of when you will go into labor. You could be at 4cm for weeks or go into labor at 0cm. I know plenty of people that were 3cm+ starting at 34-35 weeks and they still had to be induced after 41 weeks. Make sure you're prepared, but don't count on anything happening any time soon.

Lots of water and lay on your left side. Every pregnancy is unique. The good thing to keep in mind is that though you may not be ready, S/He doesn't come out crawling You have plenty of time to get things finalized. Just make sure that you DO have the car seat ready, the cradle set up, and your bag packed just in case.
Thanks, ladies your responses have helped me to calm down a little bit. Still nervous but more accepting. My labor mantra is going to be "keep calm and carry on."
Have a sister in law that with 3 pregnancies as been dialated by 3 cm around 3 weeks. She was sewed up for one pregnancy bc she was having contractions. Other than that no problems with the other two, she kinda gets to 3 and gets stuck so her doctor was not concerned.
I was 3 cm and 50% at my last appointment (34 weeks). My doc ordered me off of work and to rest, rest, rest. We'll see what the word is today. I've been having BH like crazy.
Re: 35w1d and 4 centimeters! Help!
