So, my parents and one brother and his family are coming to our house for Christmas Eve dinner. We're all taking the kids to 4:30pm mass beforehand, so I wanted to do something that could either be a) something kind of fancy done in the crockpot, or b) be done ahead of time and heated through in about 20 minutes once we got home. I did beef stroganoff last year, which worked out well, but not sure what to do this year. I guess I could do lasagna, but I wanted to have something different that could feed a small army (there will be 10 of us).
Re: Need Christmas Eve dinner ideas
Brian and I used to always do lasagna but my family decided to do Italian food for Christmas dinner so we have to change it up. I think lasagna is a great idea!
The kids will not go for that. I'm not a huge fan of it, either, but thanks for the suggestion!
I have an amazing white turkey chili (just ask Mrs.Richardson
) that I love! If you'd like the recipe, let me know.
Shrimp scampi was going to be my next suggestion. Yum!
You could always go simple with a great soup in the crockpot, add a salad, some delicious fresh bread, and of course Christmas cookies for dessert or a nice cake!
I do love shrimp scampi, and so does everyone else! Thanks, V for the suggestion. Tina also got me thinking about making turkey chili with some good crusty bread and fresh veggies and such to nibble on.
And is it bad of me to already have dessert planned out? Plan on making eggnog cupcakes along with Christmas cookies. That's been settled for weeks now
.
Well you do make awesome turkey chili so that could be great, too! And I would have dessert planned also!
