Please recommend sand/water table that can be used indoors

We need a fun activity table that LO can use indoors during long, freezing cold WI winters. We'll use dry beans in place of sand. THANKS!

  • I can't imagine wanting something like that inside, even with beans in it.  What about a train table?

  • I would imagine you could pretty much use any sand/water table indoors.  Just depends on your space.  We got this one because it was cheap. For awhile DD would try to climb into it though.  It's pretty low and I would imagine we will buy a different one in the future.

We do water play indoors using a tupperware container, like the underbed storage ones.  I just put out some towels on the tile floor and put the container on top with either some water or colored ice cubes with bowls, measuring cups, etc.  I stayed right next to DD for awhile to ensure she would keep the water in the container.  Now she does it on her own, she plays with the water in the kitchen while I make dinner.

There are a lot of dry options you can use indoors too.  Beans might be a bit messy but there are other things.  You can use tissue paper, shredded paper, puff balls/cotton balls, playdough with plastic animals, etc.  You can also keep a little dustpan nearby and teach LO to sweep up the mess that he makes.

Google sensory table ideas and you will find lots of things you can use that won't make a huge mess.
