Brushing teeth ?

How many times a day does your LO brush his/her teeth?

E brushes his before bed, but that is it.  I have tried to find a good time in the morning, but he gets up, eats breakfast reasonably soon after, and then drinks a ton of milk for about the hour after that.  Soon after that, he gets a snack.  Just trying to see what others do.

I brush in the morning and at night, but at varying times in the morning, depending on what I am doing.  I want to work it into a routine for him.

Re: Brushing teeth ?

  • We definitely do every night before bed. I know DH doesnt do hers on the days I work (he gets her ready and drops off at daycare). On the days I'm home I try to remember to do it at some point in the morning-either when she first wakes up or before nap time. Honestly, most days it doesnt happen though-sad to say

  • He always brushes them at night (well, 95% of the time I guess) and I usually brush them before he leaves for daycare, or after he eats breakfast if we are staying home.

At daycare the kids all brush after lunch before they nap. I've been trying to do that at home too.

  • It's part of our night time routine before bed.  During the week she brushes them in the morning while I brush her hair.  On the weekends she will usually brush them while I get her dressed for the day.  We keep her toothbrush and toothpaste in her room by the changing table so it's convenient.

  • At night, either right after bath and jammies, or just before hopping into bed. In the morning, it's just before we head out the door for daycare, or DH will get him to do it a little earlier after he gets dressed (he typically doesn't have anything to eat until he gets in his classroom).
  • Always before bed.  Sometimes before nap too.
  • If we left the house every morning at the same time, we'd have a better schedule.  He brushes every night before bed.  On preschool days, we get up, get dressed, he eats and then we brush before we leave.  On days we don't have preschool, we don't always brush in the morning, but we should...
  • L gets everynight and most mornings. After he has breakfast- we change out of jammies, wash face and brush teeth...

  • We try to do 2x.  With my 2 year old, I brush her teeth right before her lunchtime nap and then bed - she drinks a bottle before she falls asleep.

I'm not as good with my 4.5 year old, just because it is a huge rush to get out the door.

However - I will say - I personally brush their teeth.  I read something about kids who even brush 2+ times a day not doing well.  Honestly, I know I'm doing a heck of a lot better than my kids would, I really scrub.

  • I try to brush her teeth 2x a day (after breakfast and after bath). But I don't think I'm actually getting them brushed well since she just bites down on the toothbrush and chews it. But at least she's getting the routine and habit down I guess.

  • Morning and night.  I am a stickler about this.  Dylan really hates to get his teeth brushed so I dread it every time we do it.  Justin is pretty good about it.

  • Tessie has started brushing hers every morning as soon as she wakes up.  But this is a recent thing because a.) she has started asking to and b.) it entertains her while I am throwing up (lol).

We only in the last 2 weeks switched to kids toothpaste vs baby toothpaste, and I am trying to teach her to spit it out.  She still swallows 80% of the time though.

  • We let him brush in the morning. I am trying to get him to brush more than suck on the toothpaste but it is a process. I also use this time to do his hair (his curls need some serious taming in the am). I am trying to add a night time brush as well but it is harder. I think I might try before bath because after is a bit of a fight until he gets his pacifier. Which is one thing I want to break soon.

This is true.  The dentist said to keep doing it until they are school-age.

DD used to hate and fight getting her teeth brushed.  Finally, I bribed her by saying she could brush Abby's if I could brush hers.  So now the routine is that while she brushes her own, I brush Abby's.  And then I brush hers for 1 song - usually she picks ABCs, but it is great bc she actually sits there with her mouth wide open bc she knows that when I am done singing the teeth brushing is done.  And then she gets to brush Abby's while I put everything away.  Dog's a good sport.

  • This is something we really struggle with with T. She doesn't like to brush her teeth and won't let us do it for her either. We try and have her brush them twice a day but I know they aren't getting brushed as well as they should be. There are also days that they don't get brushed at all because DH and I just give up on the battle.
