One of FI's friends found a stray pit bull; about a year old, maybe less. He asked FI if we'd like to take him since we just lost a dog. I'm starting to think our friends are taking advantage of us since they know we can't say no to an animal in need. Needless to say, we have a new addition. He's good with dogs and kids which we know since he's been hanging out in this guy's house, where he's going to stay until after we get settled into our house then he'll come home with us. FI and I need to learn how to say no.
So far he has no name. Any thoughts?
Re: Every damn time...
Oh he's cute!
That is exactly how I am too, that's how I got my Amstaff...
What are your other pets names?
I think he looks like a Charlie or a Cash...
Oh my gosh, I love him! Pit bulls are SO sweet, if I were ever to get a big dog I would want one of them! Congrats!
As for names, sorry, that would take me a few months :P
4/25/12 ~ Our angel, Persephone James, is here!
As for names, are there any books that you really enjoy? Maybe a hero character? I've found the dogs that are named brave, strong, happy names often live up to it whereas the ones that were named after demons and bad guys are often little poop disturbers! haha (We have 5 dogs in the house right now - 2 are fosters though so we always have fun trying to come up with names around here!)
Good luck and have fun!
What a cutie! That was great of you to take him in. Hopefully he's easy to take care of.
I'm a sucker for homeless dogs too. I told my DH a year ago I really wanted a 30-40lb, non-hyper dog. Then he heard about a dog who was being given up by her irresponsible owner, and we ended up with a 68 lb Shepard who's insane with excess energy.
Our Irish Wolfhound is Soren and our Maltipoo is Sunshine (the name is totally NMS, but she had it when I adopted her and was already answering to it so I didn't want to change too much after what she'd been through). My cats are Friday and Reuben. So there's definitely no theme for the name or style we'd adhere too.
I was mostly kidding about being taken advantage of. Everyone knows that if they can't find anyone else to take an animal to contact us. I volunteered at an animal shelter while in high school and had to get a lot of "last hopes" adopted so I have a few rescue contacts that even if we couldn't have taken him, I would have found someone who would.
I mentioned the literary idea to FI and asked for literary dogs (with pregnancy brain all I could think of were White Fang or Buck). He immediately said, "You were just talking to me about Argos this morning" *facepalm* So now we have a dog named after Odysseus's loyal dog; thanks for pointing us in a direction for a name.
I love him! He's adorable! I am very much like you. I just found a home for a pit that someone was going to shoot. He was sweet. The old man that stopped the shooting named him Bernie. Which for some reason looks really cute on a pit.
We have 5 dogs and 7 cats. Yep, I said that. We live on a farm, so its easy to care for the cats. We have people just drop animals on our doorstep. 4 of our cats are left overs from 3 litters of kittens dumped on our doorstep. Found homes for almost all of them. Word is out about us too.
