Anyone chosen tubal ligation?

It's still early for us to decide what our plan is but everything seems to be going nicely with this pregnancy, so it will be our last. Both DH and I are 99.9% sure this is it for us. I don't know very much about tubal ligation so I was hoping to get some IRL thoughts on it from anyone that has gone that route. I'll be having another c-section, so we would want to have it planned before then and just have everything done at one time. Dh is also willing to get a vasectomy or I could do another Mirena after this baby for awhile as the other options I'm thinking about. Just wondering how any of you have made this decision if you know you are done with babies.

  • we're weighing our options for this as well, because we are 110% sure this will be my last pregnancy.  I keep joking with my husband that he's getting the bed next to me at the hospital so they can just give him a vasectomy then.

  • I'll be getting one done with this c/s. I thought about it with my 2nd but I just wasn't 110% sure we were done and as you can see we weren't. My OB said that it's a very simple 5 extra minutes added on to your c/s pretty much. The people I've talked ot that have had it done say that they haven't noticed any different in periods or problems.

  • me! in a ideal world we would of love to have more kiddos BUT we knew after 3 we were done.  Age was a factor for us, DH is 40 & I am 35.  The last pregnancy was exhausting for me and I had yucky varicose veins....I couldnt see myself going through that again.  I had all my kids vaginally &  the procedure was very quick. YES you can have your tubes tide after a vaginal birth.  I didnt know this but when my dr offered it up I signed up right away.  Let the pregnancy progress a little more and you will know if you are ready

  • i've been wondering about this but I am not 100 percent sure I want it done.  It isn't that I want more kids after this, but more like I would like to have that choice.

  • Yep, I had my tubes tied when kellen was born.  We knew we wanted three, and since I was having another c-section we went ahead and had it done while they were in there.  no use in the hubbs having surgery if I was already having surgery.  ditto pp, it took like an additional 5 minutes.  no side effects, though I will say that when I am ovulating I do have stabbing pains.  I have always been able to tell when I was ovulating but this is more obvious even then before.  It isn't like knock me down pain, but its like the egg is trying to get through and is trying really really hard.  it was a no brainer for us since we knew we were done and I'm sooooo relieved to not have to deal with BC ever again!  if you have more questions or anything feel free to ask away!

  • Cut, burnt, snipped, tied and discard. That's what I told Dr. Brand to do during my c-section! Get rid of em. I had rough pregnancy and having 3 kids was enough for me!

I have no regrets. I enjoy babies... but glad to hand them back to their mommies. Seriously, my 12 year old is still a baby. I didn't need anymore!!
