January 2011 Moms

I was *that* mom today

You know, the one who's dressed warmer than her kid. Before we left the house I asked DH what the weather was like and if DD needed pants. He said no. He checks the weather multiple times a day, so I trusted him. It was fine for a little bit, but then the winds turned and there was terrential downpour. I got to the grocery store and instead of trying to get pants and a sweatshirt on DD in the parking lot while getting dowsed, I threw her in the shopping cart (with cart cover, relax) and hauled ass to get inside. I could feel the side-eyes from people for her being in only a onesie. I swear it was 70 and sunny when we left the house!!

  • I have to admit, I kinda giggled after I read this.  We did that a few times too and got some really bad glares.  Hopefully it was warm inside the store!

  • That is funny. I ran back into the house earlier today to dress DS warmer because I thought I might be judged if he didn't look warm enough. The poor kid hates being hot. He gets warm really easy, so I try not to over dress him...but...

  • lol, I've done this too. Usually I wonder if people look at how adorable she is, and how scary I look though. lol. I always wonder if people know I am wearing the same sweatshirt as the day before. lolTongue Tied

Exactly! She gets hot so easily and turns into a crab. I dress her how she's comfortable but there's always some smartass who asks where her shoes/socks are. You don't know me! Lol

  • It's been at least 3 months since Emily just got to wear a onesie outside. I'm super jealous! I hate putting Em in a coat though. So I'm that Mom too that bundled up in scarf, hat, gloves and wool coat while my daughter has just a hat on. But I prefer to just cover her in a fleece blanket then wrap her in it when I take her into a place. It's easier than shoving her into her car seat with a big coat on.

Screw those judgey people! I'd just stare back at them with my eyebrow cocked ;)

The weather just cannot make up its mind. Tonight it's going to be 33 degrees. Yesterday I had the A/C on. This winter is looking to be wayyy less harsh than last year.

  • I think I would be approached by someone if Jay was in a onesie. I get side-eyed by people when he doesn't have shoes on. (But is wearing socks.) People ask about his shoes, then his age and are shocked. Today someone thought he was 16months.

I am glad you thought to at least bring pants. I would have been that mom that left the house without the pants. :(
