No Teeth, Not Crawling or Walking - 10 Months!

My daughter is a little over ten months and I feel like we've been completely stalled for months! She's been getting in her top two and bottom two teeth for over a month now but noting has broken through. She is finally ok with being on her tummy but doesn't crawl, hates to roll over and can't situp on her own. She loves to stand but no hint at walking. I know all babies develop differently but I'm really concerned about the crawling/walking. She just seems so content to sit and watch the world and only play with things in her immediate reach. Is it seriously possible that she could turn one and still not be doing either of these???

Some never crawl, it's not considered a necessary milestone. I would be somewhat concerned about her not sitting on her own, and would call your pedi to ask what they think about that, although if she stands, she clearly has muscular development. She may just be a little fickle! The tooth thing seems to be all over the map based on the survey I posted. I think my 11 month old's top two teeth have been coming in for like two months and have not cut through yet

This. The crawling/walking I wouldn't be too worried about, either, but not sitting unassisted would worry me. Def. ask your pedi and see if they think you should seek out some early intervention or PT.

There is a baby in my mom's group a couple months older than A who was always totally content to lay on his back, blow spit bubbles, and observe the world. One day, he "woke up" and is now crawling like an expert, pulling up, and standing on his own. This all happened at 11 months. He is just shy of a year but he caught up! You might mention it to your pedi but try not to worry too much.

My first son had no teeth did not crawl until 11 months.

We had early intervention come out and the next week he finally figured it out. He started walking at 12 months exactly.

Try not to worry! My first was a pokey little puppy.

My second little one has been walking since 9 months. I prefer a late walker!! I'm exhausted!!!

None of those things concern me, except did you say she can't even sit up on her own? That would kind of worry me. Have you talked to the pedi about it? My DS is a little behind on things too, but not that behind. I asked a friend of mine about it who's in child psychology and she said they have physical therapy that can help. Not saying that your LO desperately needs it, but it couldn't hurt if you are worried.

My DD didnt crawl until 12 months (2 days before her 1st birthday!), get any teeth until 14 months, or walk until 18 months. She was just very content NOT doing anything. And one day, she decided she wasn't content anymore and mastered a milestone.

You may want to have her evaluated for low muscle tone/gross motor skills simply because she's not yet sitting up on her own. Might be totally normal, but best to know for sure

We've been in PT for a while now because ds was born with low muscle tone which caused gross motor delays, but from what you describe I think I'd go for a PT evaluation. You can look up reviews for a good private pediatric place near you or you can have your county's Early Intervention program do one at your home for free. We've done both and prefer private, but it depends on costs and how good your EI program is.

At 10 months my DD had 2 teeth (two bottom), but only just BARELY, like they had JUST broken through. She was not crawling or walking or even really pulling up!

At 11.5 months she learned to crawl and then at about 13 or 14 months she walked. Don't worry about her momma, she'l get there!

My daughter just started crawling yesterday. Her first birthday is next Friday. If you are really concerned ask for a referral to a PT but as long as your kid is making progress in development, as small as it may be, she's probably fine.

ETA, again: DD has been able to sit unassisted since she was 7 months but she just started getting herself into the sitting position by herself last week.

Another one, my DD crawled and got teeth after 10 months and walked at 14-15 months. But I think the not sitting is at least worth a question to the dr. Assuming all is well, it's way better. I wish my DS had been later as all I do is chase him now.

I have 4 boys ages 7, 5, 2 and 10 months. For some reason none of my kids every sat up on their own til' after they crawled. I've talked to my doctor about this every time and they've said it's nothing to worry about. My 10 month old still hasn't cut any teeth yet, not crawling (we're almost there, he's got the army crawl down) and doesn't sit up on his own. He likes to stand and roll over and such so his doctor isn't concerned at all and keeps telling me "Maybe he just is content with being a baby longer and not worried about toddling" I'm not too worried because this is pretty much how it's been with all my babies... they'll do things on their own time... If I was you I wouldn't be too worried but it never hurts to ask your babies doctor for some reassurance:)
