My 4 week post op appt question

Hey mamas,

Just had my 4 week post op appointment today. My doc apparently likes to see her c section patients at 4 weeks rather than 6. Well I was surprised when she told me everything was good to go (meaning I can go back to my normal lifestyle - ie taking baths, starting to exercise, have sex again!). Does this seem right or does this seem a bit early to be cleared?? She told me to take it easy in the exercise at first but I distinctly remember another doc in my practice telling me to wait 6 weeks before anything can go in the Vag. I told my DH the "good news" today and he was rearing to go but I would still feel better waiting the full 6 weeks. Am I being overly cautious or do you agree to wait?

    A follow up to my post. -  my c sec was not planned so I did end up pushing for quite a while before the surgery.

    I am sure it would be fine,/but personally I would wait until 6wks. 6 wks is the standard timeline given by most providers to allow adequate time to heal from the placenta detaching.  Sex too soon could cause an infection in your uterus.

    I went at 3w after my first because I was just a mess and convinced I had an infection. My dr said it would be fine to start resuming normal activity or I could wait until my 6w scheduled appointment. We waited for almost 8 weeks.

    I had a C-section with no pushing but still HAD to wait 6 weeks for sex.  I got the ok to drive and take walks at 2 weeks, but even though I never even dilated she insisted that I needed to wait the full 6 weeks before anything went into my vagina, even a tampon.  I would definitely wait 2 more weeks, you don't want an infection on top of caring for a NB.  Good luck!

    I was told to wait 6 weeks for sex and exercise.
    After many years and tears our baby boy is finally here

    The docs I work with always say wait 6 weeks before anything in the vagina or exercising.  I would stick to the 6 weeks, it's the most widely recommended waiting time for these things.
