Graco MyRide 65. It is inexpensive and works well. We've had it from day one since it is rated for infants to toddlers. The fire department inspector said that she has the same one and loves it.
DD1 is in an Evenflo Triumph 65, still RFing. It's a great seat, inexpensive and easy to install and use. We switched her at 13 months - she's small and our infant seat has high weight/height limits, so we left her as long as she fit. DD2 is even smaller than her sister, and we'll keep her in the infant seat until she outgrows it as well.

LO is not at the weight limit for her infant seat yet, but her head is around an inch from the top (which is when you need to switch) and you can just see she's too big for it.
I got this convertible seat because I have a small car and this was the best rated compact car seat that still had a good RFing weight limit (LO is big), a decent FFing limit, and side impact protection.
We have a Graco Smart seat and she's been in it since birth (it comes with infant inserts). We did our research and the safety ratings are great. It looks very sturdy and it's got a lot of extras. We're hoping to use it for a long time. It's up to 65lbs. You can get them at Toys R Us. We used a coupon for 20% off so it came down to $240.
DS has a Britax Boulevard. It's very easy to install and he's very comfy in it. We moved him into it(rearfacing) when he was about 3 months. He hated the infant seat and was constantly trying to sit up in it. He was much happier in the convertible seat. DD will probably stay in the infant seat for much longer. She is a lot smaller than big brother was.
