Question (sort of a poll) for ladies who charted

in 1st Trimester

Hi ladies - I'm a visiting lurker from the GP board. Hope to join you here soon!

I'm very frustrated as it seems like month after month we manage to BD the day before ovulation and not the day of, and no BFP as of yet. Just curious as to how many people got PG with intercourse the day before vs. the day after. Basically looking for reason to hope this cycleConfused Thanks.

    You can look at my chart. We bd the day of ovulation in the morning and got our bfp this past cycle.

    As you know, you don't have to have SEX (come on, you're a grown-up, you can say it) on ovulation day to get pregnant.

    Cycle 1, we had sex 2 days prior to ovulation, did not get pregnant.

    Cycle 2, had sex 2 days prior, the day of, and the day after ovulation & got pregnant.

     

    I assume you also know that each cycle, even when timed perfectly, has a 20% chance of resulting in conception.  It can take a healthy couple up to a year.

    Why are you having trouble timing sex on ovulation day?  When you see fertile CM, have sex that day.

    We had sex for about a week straight both of my bfp cycles (first ended in m/c), but missed O day on both.  I'm pretty sure I've read that your best chances actually come from sex the 2 days before O day.

    On my third cycle off of BC, I ovulated on 9/15 and we had sex on 9/12 and 9/14.  Waited until the day I was late to test and got a BFP.

    We had sex the day before and the day I got a positive opk.

    I got pregnant with DD 2 days before O and this one 1 day before ovulation.

    Strangly enough I got my BFP (after 19 cycles) with having sex the day before ovulation. I wasn't even supposed to ovulate yet and DH was leaving to go OOT on business. I ended up ovulating three/four days early.

    Click my chart.  I'll admit my situation is rare.  We got pregnant on our first cycle of trying.

    Thanks for all the responses. I sometimes have very little eggwhite CM,  and then last cycle I had it for nearly a week (ovulated late), so that's been a somewhat unreliable sign for me. And even though I'm using the CBEFM the peak sometimes shows up after I've ovulated, according to my chart. My doctor advised we have sex every other day when I expect to be ovulating and just due to our timing, that just hasn't coincided with the actual day of ovulation.

    Mom to 2 beautiful girls, 3 yrs and 22 months old. My 2nd was born at 32 weeks due to Rhogam failure/severe complications from Rh disease and is our miracle. She has bilateral auditory neuropathy and a cochlear implant, activated 4/5/2012 at 19 months. Lilypie First Birthday tickers

    We tried for 6 months with no luck.  This past month I charted my basal temp everyday.  We had sex everyother day and then the day my temp dropped we had sex that day and the day after.  We got our BFP yesterday.  I would recommend trying this it worked for us.  Good luck!

    We only bd twice the cycle I got pg- once right after AF ended and once (well twice) 2 days before I ovulated.  That was it!  Usually sex before O has greater success, from what I've read.

    When I looked back we always had bd the day before ovualation, but not on actual ovulation day. This cycle - BFP - we did it everyday around ovulation until my temperature went up. I also drank a ton of grapefruit juice. I read someone it helps the ewcm.

    My chart was crazy this past month, so I am really not sure when I ovulated.  But we used Instead Cups for the first time with this cycle and we got our BFP!  I am attributing our success to the Cups!  I am definitely a believer.  Good luck!

    We had sex the day before o day and then my husband had to go out of town. ?i was so mad, but this is the month I finally got my BFP! ?So, yes it can happen. ?:)
