Intro and Question

Hi

I guess I should introduce myself since I've been lurking and commenting for a few days. We got a BFP last week and even though this was totally unexpected we're excited! Since we weren't really thinking about kids at this point neither of us knew anything about pregnancy. I bought a book and have been reading online like crazy, but still have questions. After I took a HPT I went to the clinic on base and they did a blood test. They confirmed I was pregnant, but my first actual appointment isn't until Jan 5th. I keep reading posts about beta levels and multiple tests. Is it normal to have several tests? I had to google beta test after I started reading these boards, so obviously I didn't know to ask about the level after my blood test. Any info would be appreciated!

I don't think having multiple beta tests is the norm. I didn't for DD. As far as I know it is more if you have a history of losses or are undergoing fertility treatment. I could be wrong though.

Pretty sure they only do the beta tests if you have a history of losses. With DS they only did the confirmation blood test on base and then sent me on my way to OB.
