I am at a loss. Aside from a Starbucks gift card, I have no idea what to
ask for in my stocking. L and I are just exchanging stockings and then
getting a couples massage after the first of the year. What do you
get/ask for in your stocking (if you do them!)
Re: what do you ask for/get in your stocking?
- a few new ornaments (the willow tree mother one and the starbucks red cup ornament)
- starbucks via packets (never tried 'em but i'm curious to see if they would be good to have on hand at work)
- scratch tickets
- gum
- subway gift card (or other lunch places near work so i can grab lunch guilt-free)
- new gloves
- cookie cutters/misc kitchen gadgets
- DW always asks for new socks in her stocking

My mom still does stockings for us
My brother and Jen and I are in our 30s, and my sister is 21. We usually get nice pens, nice chocolate, a Lifesaver Sweet Storybook and an orange (tradition/homage to my grandma), sometimes giftcards in small amounts, chapstick/lipbalm, I usually get earrings, nice soap or lotion, socks...it varies from year to year, but those are some ideas.
Maybe think of small things that you like but don't indulge in on a regular basis. For instance I love Essie nail polish, but usually don't buy it b/c $8 is more than I want to pay for nail polish. Or small things you'd like for your office, or trade paperbacks, magazine subscriptions (a lot of them are as low as $10-15 for a year), audiobooks for your commute.
Hmm we never ask for stuff it just shows up ...
Movie tix,
gum, lotions, small jewelry, asprin, socks, mani pedi gift cert, tangerines
key chains, jump drives, flash cards,
- hope that helps,
J

Stocking stuffers are my favorite presents! Lots of little, unique things.
I've gotten travel versions of some of my favorite games, one of those "IOU coupons for picking the TV show of the night/cooking dinner/at home massage" etc, magazine if you're traveling or have some downtime after the holiday...
No
, leapgirl! Both my mom and DW's mom do them for us too, and we and all of our siblings are either in 20's or 30's.
. And my family totally does the oranges too!
We get candy, usually a book or a DVD or a CD, maybe an inexpensive game or puzzle or something to do with family on the holiday, little inexpensive knick-knack type stuff. MIL usually does toiletry type items, like toothpaste, Advil, lotion, and often a small giftcard.

Cautiously optimistic.
We now only do stockings for my family (mom, dad, sister, bil, wife). My parents get us gifts and everyone gets Ella stuff including stocking gifts.
We get smart wool socks, small gadgets, lotion ect. We also usually get gift cards for itunes and starbucks. I try to get something original and useful. Last year I got my sister and mother reusable produce bags. They really liked them.
CT Sue loves the via for work. She likes to have it on hand since there is a hot water machine on the floor and she doesn't have to leave and go to the cafe to get coffee.
In our family, we also don't ask for anything. My mom used to, and then we did it together for years and last year I did it with my sister, although others sometimes add to 'em. We usually go to the local 24 hour pharmacy on Christmas eve and stock up on stuff then sneak them in and put them in the stockings. Traditionally, each stocking (handmade by my nana) gets satsumas/tangerines, then assorted toiletries, silly small toys/games/deck of cards, often some candy, movie ticket certificates, etc. that vary for each person.
(It's odd to reflect on this as I won't be celebrating Christmas this year.)
