Anyone with uterine fiborids? TMI

Long story short it looks like I'm on to day 6 of passing clots (for me normal is only 3 days of heavy clotting) and DH is threatening to call my ob about this.  AF has definitely overstayed her welcome and I don't even want to know what my iron levels are at now.  In any case is there anyone else struggling with heavy periods and cramps that even a prescription painkiller can't take care of?  I'm tired of dealing with this and am seriously considering a hysterectomy to take care of this problem after we have kid #2.

  • I have one huge one.  It was nothing before pregnancy and it grew so big during pregnancy because it fed off of the extra blood flow and caused me to have baby early.  I just had a D&C performed on Black Friday and am praying it will alleviate some of the bleeding.  Have you tried Lysteda yet for the bleeding?  It did not work well on me, but I have heard success stories.  If the D&C does not work for me, I am going to try a myectomy or embolization before the hysterctomy.  I do not want to go through menopause in my 30s unless there is no other option.  Unless they can do a tummy tuck at same time- ha ha!  Sorry you are going through this.  That is a lot of days of heavy clotting.

  • Thank you for responding.  The same happened with my fibroid after I got pregnant and they scheduled me for a c-section 2 weeks early because ds was breech and ran out of space to grow.  I have a annual scheduled in January and will ask him if he thinks a d&c or lysteda are things that we can look into.  He's been a bit hesitant to discuss dealing with the fibroid and was more concerned about getting me through the pregnancy and recovery.
  • Maybe see a Reproductive Endocrinologist. I have had several surgeries to remove my fibroids that keep growing back. Several D and C's and right before I got pregnant, I had a robotic assisted myomectomy. They broke up and removed the fibroids through three incisions on my waist area one on my belly button and one smaller incision lower. I got pregnant a year after and now I am not sure what's going on there. Good Luck.
