Hi All-
Hubby and I are exploring the option of TTC #2 with our frozen embies. I have a few Q's tho. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
1. We saw a Dr we loved out of Annandale (Dr. Saffan). We now live in Rockville, so do we need to see a dr up here in Rockville or can we stick with our dr that we like? As I recall, we only saw the Dr once and the rest was telling us what to do blood work or meds via phone or our nurse.
2. Exactly what did you do for a frozen embie cycle? Birth control pills and then estrogen afterwards?
3. Do you remember approximately how much it cost to do a full-on frozen embie cycle? Our insurance won't co-pay for a frozen embie cycle. Just if we did a full-on IVF. Of course, they would pay for some meds.
Re: Shady Grove and Frozen Embies Q's
I can't help with most of your questions because we did IUIs, but my doctor in the Rockville office was Dr. Stillman. I loved him!
I've also heard excellent things about Dr. Sagoskin in the Rockville office, and Dr. Levy (also Rockville) did 2 of my IUIs and I liked him as well for the brief amount of time I spent with him.
If you have someone you like, it might be worth sticking with them if they'd be willing to let you do all your monitoring out of the Rockville office and going to them just for the transfer. Something to ask about. Knowing how much I went in just for IUIs, I would not want to be driving back and forth between Rockville and Annandale all the time.
Good luck!
Ugh! I have full-on double thumbs down to Dr. Sagoskin. I would check out Dr. O'Brien in Rockville.
1. Rockville is close and huge. I personally would just use that clinic for convenience. You just meet with the doctor for your consult and then talk to the nurses.
2. I haven't done a FET since May 2010, so I may be a little fuzzy or things may have changed. I did a SET and it was not our successful cycle. I did birth control pills and then del-estrogen shots (IM) every three days for at least a month or more. The cycle takes longer than a fresh IMO, but is less intense. Towards the end you do bloodwork and lining checks. They thaw the embies the same day you go for transfer about an hour before. They come into the room and you get a thaw report. They have to thaw with a certain % of cells intact to transfer. After transfer, couch rest and progesterone suppositories. I had to argue for the progesterone supps. They wanted me to do progesterone in oil and I refused.
3. It cost us $4000. We paid OOP and used insurance for the meds.
Good Luck!
