I need ideas of what to ask for...My family doesn't really do gift cards, so I need actual things to ask for. The only thing that comes to mind is the DesignSponge book.

These are all things I'm considering for SIL
Sephora has a bunch of "favorites" sets. I like the lips one:
Cashmere socks
Stud bracelet
Kendra Scott earrings
I try to make a pretty long list to give people a lot to inspire them if they need it.
- gel pro mat for kitchen
- holiday salad plates
- new fleece jacket from LL Bean
- Kate Spade iphone cover
- melamine batter bowl (DS broke mine boo hoo!)
- nice vanilla, cinnamon, etc
- a couple different pairs of shoes
- new sheets for guest room
Hmm... DH doesn't accept suggestions, but he always picks out something even more awesome than what I would have asked for anyway so it's cool.
I asked my dad for a nice nativity set (willow tree).
I asked my mom for some specific binders to put Kate's year 3 scrapbook pages in.
If I was just dreaming up a list of things I would like...
Project Life kit for next year
A new photo printer
Paper/ ink for said printer
A speedlight
A macro lens
New camera body (hey, it's a wish list, right?
)
A gift card to archivers or 2peas
Some awesome black shoes, but I would want to pick them out myself
Gift card for a pedicure
Some canvases for when we get our pictures done in January
Swim lessons for Kate
YogaYoga pass (though I have no idea when I would go)
I'm sure I could keep dreaming things up.
Though I know you didn't mean this post specifically to advertise Design Sponge, I'd never seen it before and just took a look. It's fabulous! Thanks for the unintended recommendation! Also, don't you love how much of so many books you can see on Amazon's "Look Inside" feature these days?
As for the topic you DID propose, if you're into books, I could recommend lots of great novels I've read in the past few years.
DesignSponge is one of my fave blogs! And I'm always game for book recs! I have a ton on my wishlist, but so behind on reading that I'm just asking DH for Amazon credit
we are doing the 4 gifts thing. this is what I suggested to dh.
want: dehydrator or a yogurt maker
need: new aprons, herb scissors, new iphone case
wear: I want a new pair of toms. I love my black ones so much, they get more comfy every day. I want a pair in either brown or blue too.
read: a new juicing book, mine took a dive in some broth and I had to throw it out. I also want a few other health related books including wild fermentation.
