Pampering during pregnancy

Today I so wanted to get up and get moving but I had the most awful M/S and I'm still in bed. I'm hoping this will subside soon because I'd like my normal life back!

However, I'm determined to make it through the rest of the pregnancy happy and no more feeling down about being alone! So I booked a small massage with a manicure/pedicure after seeing an unbelievable special online :) So off I'll go for a little pampering tomorrow! I refuse to let myself feel physically AND emotionally miserable any longer. I can't do much about the physical part though although I'm praying the second trimester will really help! :)

What did you single ladies do while you were going through your pregnancy? This may sound like a silly question but I have to get used to doing things alone. I went out with a close friend the other day and sometime in the evening I just couldn't get rid of the nausea and the vomiting started. I hate having to ruin someone another person's day because of how sick I tend to get. So I've decided I'd start to just relish some alone time until the all day sickness wears off.

Re: Pampering during pregnancy

  • Awww, I think it's a great idea to book a day of pampering.

Honestly, I was mainly just trying to make it through, most of the time.  I did book a few pre-natal massages after I was done with first tri.  We didn't split until I was eight months pg but it was basically a miserable time in my life up until then. And after we split I was upset so I was having to even force myself to eat, so...yah, there you have it.

I think the spa is a great idea as well as doing things with your friends that are relaxing (movies, going to dinner once you feel up to it, etc.).  Also something I did do for myself was to maintain my workout schedule while I was pg.  It was good for me and for baby.  It also made weight loss after I had him infinitely easier.

  • STBXH was in jail for my first pregnancy as well and unfortunately I was so strapped with having to pay bills I could rarely afford to do anything let alone be pampered. My mom did take me out for a pedicure once which was nice.

This time around I have a nice raise so I can actually afford to do things. For starters I am going to trade in my wedding ring and buy a pretty chocolate diamond as I have always wanted one but H told me I couldn't have one because he thought they were ugly. I am also buying myself a brand new bedroom set that is super girly. :)

Once I hit the uncomfortable stage of this pregnancy I'll definitely treat myself to a massage or two and some pedis. Maybe do something totally different with my hair. Haven't really decided yet.

  • i love going to the movies, so i went to the movies alone a lot. but i also did a lot of arts & crafts projects (mainly things for the baby)...just something to keep my mind busy.

I would also add that its a good idea to do things you like or learn something new. Learn how to knit, read a lot, learn a new language ( this is one of the best ones for me.)

The work out thing is a really good idea Achase! I remember feeling like a fat cow while BD didn't have to go through any of the changes.

I like this idea... I picked up crocheting and it has helped to relax me so much. Plus I get to make fun blankets for my baby girl!
