NBR: Two moving questions re: carpet and paint

Sorry to be a PW, but it looks like we may actually be moving soon (have an offer on our house) so I'm excited to finally start planning the move, decorating the new house, etc.

So, our new (to us at least) house has carpet that's about four years old. The current owners seem to be pretty clean people and I didn't notice any stains or anything when we looked at the house. I think they have a dog but I'm not sure if it's an indoor or outdoor dog (none of us have any allergies, BTW). Would you go ahead and pay to get the carpet steam cleaned to remove all the potential nastiness that could be lurking in the carpet? The entire upstairs and master bedroom are carpeted.

My second question has to do with painting. I love the paint colors in our current house. Would you incorporate some of the same colors (I'd probably only want to change our bedroom and kitchen and maybe H's room) in the new house since it works and goes with our current decor or would you pick new colors to change things up?     As someone who steam cleans my own carpet multiple times a year, I would DEFINITELY have it cleaned prior to moving in. We moved recently and the the only reason I didn't have the carpets cleaned in our new house was that the owners had replaced them when they moved out, so they were brand new. Otherwise, I always have them cleaned upon move in.

    If you like your paint colors, I'd use them in the new house. We have carried over the colors from several houses to this house because I've loved them for a long time and still do and because they go with our things.

    Definitely clean the carpets.....even the clean-looking ones can harbor some serious funk.

    I would reuse the same paint colors if you like them.  It can be really hard to find a good color!  I've also painted the same colors in multiple houses.  Just know that they can look different in the new space due to the lighting and more/less windows, etc.

    Yes I would most definitely get the carpets cleaned. You never know what has been on that carpet! Ugh.

    If you love the colors keep them! We painted our house Bennington Gray and it took us forever to find that color and one we both loved. I will be painting most rooms that color. I find it is easier to go with a neutral color on the walls then bring in color through accessories and decor.

    i'd definitely want the carpets cleaned. but you may also want to ask the seller if they are going to clean them. we paid to get ours cleaned before we moved in and once we got there i'm pretty sure the previous owners had gotten them cleaned.

    ditto the pp on the paint colors. it's hard choosing paint colors so i say if you love them, go for it!
