Upstate NY Babies

Sorry to badger you with all these hockey questions...

C owns his skates right? I went into Buffalo sports to get him a helmet and I had him fitted for skates. Rental skates are included with the beginner hockey fee but he told me that parents are always complaining about rentals. The guy said that he will have a much easier time learning in his own pair of skates. I'm hoping he just loves skating and I can take him to some open skates.

Am I a sucker or are you glad you bought them? We ended up with used for like $29 and the guy swears (I don't know if I believe it) that I can sell them back for half after the season.

  • Yes, Charlie owns his skates. It has come in handy because we can go to places like Rotary Rink (downtown) any time & it is free to skate there. I have also noticed a difference when he gets a new pair or gets them sharpened, so I'm sure the rentals would also be unpredictable.

Just think- B can wear them in a few years & I'm sure you'd be able to sell them after that. Little kid hockey stuff seems to be in high demand- I have so much trouble finding things used in his size so most of his stuff is new :(

Charlie starts "real hockey" next Thursday. I am excited & nervous!
