Does anyone else's LO do this? Heartbreaking :(

DD is EBF, but I have been pumping since going back to work. She's having a hard time taking a bottle, just flat out refuses all day until I get home and can BF her. I get a text from MIL (who watches her 2 days a week) saying she's getting better at the bottle, eaten 2 oz so far (YAY), and is taking a nap in her crib.

Wait a minute...why doesn't she do any of this for me when I'm home...?? She refuses to sleep, let alone sleep in her crib. Won't let me put her down for more than 2 minutes, etc. Why do I hear that she does all that for other people? It's killing me because I feel like it's somehow my fault, she knows I'm gone all day or something.

Make me feel better....

  • We've been having the opposite problem the past few days.  DS has a fit usually once a day and won't nurse, he just wants a bottle.  I can give him as little as an ounce in a bottle and then he'll nurse.  It breaks my heart when he looks at me and screams/cries until we give him a bottle.

  • Your LO might not want to sleep for you b/c she wants to be with you.  Sometimes I cannot get DS to sleep, but if I leave the room, after a bit DH can.  All we can think of is that he really wants to be with me so he wants to stay awake!

  • LO won't take a bottle from you because she knows she can get the boob if she whines enough. That's just the down side to BF. Thankfully, DS has been boob/bottle fed from day one, so he can alternate  between with no problems. Just keep at it and hopefully your LO will come around. otherwise, you'll just have to be out of sight when she needs to take a bottle.

As for sleeping in the crib, your sitter might just be more adamant about waiting through the fussy period than you would be. Not sure what your reaction is to fussiness/crying when trying to get LO down for a nap. Also, like others have said, she might just want to be with you more, so napping isn't as fun.

  • It's because you're the mommy!!!

My problem (I think like PP...I just skimmed...) is the opposite. My guy won't stop screaming until I'm holding him and rocking him. Makes it impossible for AM showers before work!
